Moonlight in the Vines was a Success!
The first annual Moonlight in the Vines was a tremendous success with almost 250 people in attendance and even a cameo by the gorgeous Super Moon. The spectacular  McGrail Vineyards and Winery provided an unforgettable venue for Sunflower Hill to welcome our guests and treat them to an evening of fabulous food, wine, and entertainment. Our guests enjoyed the award winning wines of McGrail Winery and paired them with an enormous selection of sliders, quesadillas, chicken skewers and more. A strolling magician entertained guests with his sleight of hand while others played bocce ball, played corn hole, and perused our extensive silent auction collections. Live music was provided by the Ruckus Band who kept the crowd on their feet and asking for more. Local television broadcaster Roberta Gonzales graciously emceed our evening and assisted our auctioneer in presenting each of our 10 fabulous live auction items to our guests. You can view all of the fun pictures from our event here, taken by Gina Coomber from FireBoxGirl Photography.

The evening was truly nothing short of magical and we are awed by the support we received from our sponsors, donors and guests for this special event. A warm Sunflower Hill thank you to all of you. Start planning for next year!

Update on Sunflower Hill Gardens at Hagemann Ranch
We are at the end of our summer harvest in our SFH Gardens and are preparing beds, planting winter crops and beginning to harvest our fall produce. We have harvested over 5000 pounds of produce to date and have donated over 65% to low income food banks, which now includes the Tri-Valley Haven and the Marilyn Avenue Elementary School Food Banks.

Increasing numbers of special needs groups and individuals continue to visit and work in our SFH Gardens, including the new additions of the Amador High School transition program in September and the Dublin High School transition program coming in October. We are also growing our volunteer base, with new volunteers coming each month and the Pleasanton North Rotary Club coming in October to help build our Compost Station!

We will continue to plant, harvest and sell our produce throughout the year. We have lots of wonderful produce for sale, including butternut/winter squash, lettuce, kale, basil, string beans, herbs, and more. If you would like to order some produce or join our CSA, email us at gardens@sunflowerhill.org. For more details, please visit our website.

Lucas' Story

The latest addition to our stories comes from board member, Dean Clark. Dean and his wife Stefanie live in San Ramon with their three children. You can read Dean's story about their son Lucas here.
