Abundant Harvest Underway at Sunflower Hill Gardens!

It's harvest time at Sunflower Hill Gardens!

Believe it or not, we have already produced more than 1400 pounds of food in just over three months. Approximately 75% of this has been donated to local food banks and low income individuals! Our bounty includes cherry tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes, lettuce, basil, peppers, squash, melons, cucumbers, collard greens, kale and corn. And there is more to come!

We have also been approved as a Community Food Producer by the Alameda County Health and Environment Department. This means we can sell our produce directly to restaurants and individuals. We have started a local Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) 'weekly box of produce' program. And we are now selling bouquets of sunflowers! All proceeds go to support the Sunflower HIll Gardens.

If you would like to order some produce, flowers, or join the CSA program, email us at gardens@sunflowerhill.org.

Upcoming Family Workday at Sunflower Hill Gardens

Our fourth Sunflower Hill Gardens at Hagemann Ranch Family Workday will be on Saturday, August 22nd from 9 a.m.-
12 p.m! We will be doing a variety of activities including harvesting, planting, and more. ALL are welcome to come and help in the garden. We will also have lots of tomatoes
and butternut squash for sale!

Please RSVP to gardens@sunflowerhill.org, and indicate how many will be coming and if you will be bringing an individual with special needs.

Note - If this is your first visit to the garden, please download these forms, sign them and bring to the gardens. If you came to one of our last two family workdays and already signed these, no need to do it again.

We have several dedicated volunteers who have been helping in the garden regularly, however we still would love to have more VOLUNTEERS at our garden!! Our weekly volunteer days are Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Starting the week August 17th the garden will be open from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. (the days/times may be updated periodically, so check our website).

Hope to see you there!
