Introducing ... Sunflower Gardens at Hagemann Ranch!
Sunflower Hill (SFH) is proud to announce a new partnership with the City of Livermore to operate a sustainable garden at the historic Hagemann Ranch!

This five acre parcel is a historically significant remnant of the original Rancho el Valle de San Jose Mexican land grant. In 1896, it was sold to the Hagemann family and continued to be operated as a working farm until 2006. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Sunflower Hill will be one of several nonprofit organizations with programs on site. "We will be developing a one-acre garden and educational/vocational program designed for individuals with special needs," said Lynn Monica SFH Vice President, who is leading the effort.

Thanks to funding by the Pleasanton North Rotary Club and the Livermore Hindu Community and Cultural Center, infrastructure work has already begun. Planting should begin in mid May and volunteers are needed! If you're interested, please send an email to info@sunflowerhill.org.
You can read more about the garden and program plans by visiting the SFH Garden web page.

Sunflower Seeds Are Back!

Planting your Spring garden? Don't forget to include
sunflowers!  This year, Sunflower Hill is offering a  new variety called 'Big  Sunshine.'

Packaged by members of the SFH community, they are designed to grow 8 to 10 feet in height and bloom from Summer to Fall. "The seeds are organic," said Chris Bogert, SFH board member and project manager. "They will bloom into beautiful flowers." This year's seed project was funded by a generous grant from the Pleasanton Downtown Rotary. Each packet has 25 seeds and sells for $3.50.  They are available online here. Proceeds will benefit SFH's vision for an intentional residential community for individuals with special needs.

Saturday April 18 at Milfleur in Pleasanton &

Sunday April 26 at Swirl on the Square in Livermore

Sunflower Hill is the beneficiary of two special fundraising events in April. Milfleur, a specialty store in downtown Pleasanton (728 Main Street) will be offering 20 percent of all store proceeds to SFH on Saturday April 18. "Milfleur has been a great supporter of Sunflower Hill," said Carolyn Zalewski, SFH board member. "They've been selling our cards in their store since last Fall. This is a great opportunity to thank them and to support SFH at the same time."

Swirl on the Square in Livermore is featuring Sunflower Hill throughout the month of April as part of Autism Awareness Month. "We will receive 50 percent of all wine tasting fees of their One Hope wines," said Cindy Everson, SFH board member. "And on April 26, we're planning a fun afternoon event with a live band, raffle, great food and wine tasting. On that day, we'll get 100 percent of One Hope wine tasting fees and 10 percent of food, beverage and goods orders."
