Welcome to the January 2014 edition of my monthly newsletter.
I hope you like the new look. The number of subscribers has exceeded the limits of my email system so I have had to sign up for a "professional" email marketing service. Thanks to you all for marking up. I hope you find the content useful. It isn't free any more so I hope to make it worth while for us both.
In the process of revamping the format, I have also decided to consolidate the three separate lists I was trying to manage into one. No sense in pretending I am going to do three separate publications every month... I can barely manage one, right? Besides, every month was a "combined" edition so we may as well call a duck a duck. The new service makes it easy enough to opt out if you do not wish to receive future editions but I do hope you will stay on board. The ride is smooth and quiet and scenery is spectacular.
It is really cold and really snowy here in central Indiana. It has given me some extra time to work on this newsletter, the store and a few decoder installations. If your view looks the same I bet you have logged a few hours in the train room too.
I hope you will keep SBS4DCC in mind as you dig out old projects or tear into new ones over the next few months. I also offer locomotives, rolling stock, track and landscaping in addition to one of the best selections of DCC products on the planet. As I head into my fifth year as Streamlined Backshop, I pause to thank each of you again. A business ceases to exist without customers and I am blessed to be able to serve you. I am grateful to have this opportunity to fuel your passion for model railroading too. Five years! That's crazy man.

I am pleased to announce the addition of Tam Valley Depot products to my store.

JMRI v3.7.1 Development Release is now available for download. One important note about this version is that this is the first version to include a working function map table for the ESU v4.0 LokPilot, LokSound and Select line of decoders. All prior versions did not work correctly and should not be used with the Loks.
QSI Solutions has the full line of large scale decoders including the Titan Magnum andTitan Aristo in stock and available to ship. I will be adding this product to the store shortly.
The Roco Z21 DCC Command Station is in stock and ready to ship. This is one of the most modern command stations on the market featuring integrated Plug and Play Wi-Fi and LAN support making it super easy to use your smartphone or tablet for a throttle. The system also supports nearly every type of control bus including LocoNet, R-Bus, CAN-Bus, X-Bus, and the Sniffer-Bus so it is fully compatible with most throttle busses currently on the market.

SBS4DCC "Sugar Cube" Speakers are here!
Well, mostly... I am still waiting for delivery of the 8x12s but the other models are now in stock.
They come in four sizes with different baffle options for each size.
That is sixteen "Sweet" speaker options!

I have a couple of the new HO Intermountain 4-8-8-2 Cab Forward in stock and ready to ship. These feature factory installed ESU LokSound sound decoders and a great sound file that features both the air horn and steam whistle to make sure the grade crossings stay clear.
Most versions are still available in HO scale at the factory. Email me if you are looking for a specific model or road number.
I also have several of the new N Intermountain 4-8-8-2 Cab Forward's in stock and ready to ship. These can be converted to DCC with sound using the same great sound file as the HO units.

Just a reminder that SBS4DCC features real-time inventory tracking. If it says it is in stock... it IS... I try to maintain a strong selection of DCC and Model Railroad products and try not to hide what I do not stock yet. I appreciate the opportunity to provide catalog items when you can wait a few extra days as this makes a huge difference in my ability to grow and expand my selection.
Every now and then, I do run out of an item. Backorders are accepted on many stock items and orders can still be placed for those items through the web store.

GHB International PRR L1 2-8-2 Mikado
|
GHB International has announced a sweet new N Scale steam locomotive for delivery in 2014, the Pennsylvania Railroad Class L1 2-8-2 Mikado. I have been personally involved in the project to offer input on N scale mechanisms and to spec the electrical to insure DCC compatability.
I cannot discuss the details but I can say that George Barsky of GHB International is really doing his homework on this project to make sure it will be a top performer as well as a first class representation of an iconic steam locomotive from "The Standard Railroad of the World".
I am taking no-obligation reservations now for this project which is sure to be a sellout. Quantities will be limited. Price and delivery are still subject to change.

If the engine weren't sweet enough, ESU, LLC now has the recordings necessary to generate a proper steam sound file with the PRR "Banshee" steam whistle which will be available for the LokSound Select for those who want to hear it in all her glory.
This model will be available from SBS4DCC with or without sound installed.
I can provide a version of this file to my customers today on the LokSound V4.0 series sound decoders if anyone is interested.
V3 of the new TCS WOW-Sound decoder features a "Banshee" steam whistle also.
There is a chance this decoder will fit in the tender. I am waiting for the final specs to know for sure.
The TCS WOW-Sound is in stock and ready to ship.
And for HO Scale modelers, I have the GHB International superb rendition of the Reading Crusader in stock and ready to ship.

We are excited to introduce a Tsunami Digital Sound Decoder that can be easily installed into InterMountain Railway Company HO diesel models.
As a plug and play format board, the TSU-IM1000 fits perfectly as a drop-in replacement for the light board.
Hardware is already in place to accommodate the use of LEDs without the need for resistors. It also includes a speaker wiring harness (speakers are sold separately).

The Keep-Alive (KA) devices are used to supply power to decoders during times of power interruption due to dirty track or problematic track work.
KA2 will power an HO-Scale loco at speed step 10 of 128 with headlights on for about 13 to 40 seconds.
