Weekly Message from
Principal Lambert
Dear Saint Joseph Catholic High School Friends and Family,
I hope this message finds you all doing well. With the latest storms I envision that many of you will spend a portion of the three-day weekend on the slopes. Friday (2/14) and Saturday (2/15) are the last remaining shows of our production Fiddler on the Roof. I highly recommend seeing our talented students perform.
I hope you have a wonderful Presidents' Day. The school will be closed on Monday (2/17). The girls' basketball team will be competed in the State Playoffs starting on Wednesday. The tournament will run from Wednesday (2/19) through Saturday (2/22) in Richfield. We will all be rooting the team on as they look to go for three in row!
We are entering the Sixth Week of Ordinary Time.
Saturday is the Feast of the Chair of Saint Peter.
God bless,
Patrick Lambert
Principal
Saint Joseph Catholic High School

Spotlight of the Week
Gina Marie Kelso Barberi Fouad
Gina graduated from Saint Joseph in 1988 and went to college at the University of Utah. Gina recalled that one of her favorite memorable moments at Saint Joseph was when Dave Neal carried her down the stairs to lunch when she broke her leg Freshman year, "dreamy!" When reflecting on what she carried with her from Saint Joseph into her adult life, Gina said, "Not only do I remember favorite teachers (Mr. Hart, Mr. Hoffman, Mrs. Horsely...) I remember lessons! Assignments! Lectures! Engaged, passionate educators don't just teach to you, they bring you into the story, help you see how it's relevant to you and your life. I will carry these lessons with me always and feel so blessed I have had these people in my life." She also mentioned that she made friendships that have lasted for years. Since 1996, Gina has been a Morning Show Host on Radio from Hell on X96, which is consistently rated the number one morning show in Utah. Gina explained, "I've been in radio since 1989 when I got involved in student run radio at KUTE at the University of Utah. I always knew I wanted to have a career in communications and radio provided the perfect vehicle. There is no more immediate way to connect with the local community-tv, newspaper and even the internet can't disseminate information while opening up a dialog with the public as quickly as we can." Gina is now living in Salt Lake City with her husband, Dr. Gameil Fouad, and their three children, Aidan, Sophia, and Ramzi. She wanted to give a shout out to her parents, "Gary and Mary Clare Kelso who are putting kids number 7 and 8 through Saint Joseph! They are amazing parents who believe in the value of a great Catholic education - particularly the kind you get from St. Joseph."

Yearbook News
It's Senior Portrait and "Send-Off" Time
Attention parents of senior Jayhawks: It's time to gather up those cute old photos of your student(s) and send them in--along with a warm, written "send off"-- for the "Senior Section" of the 2013 edition of The Artizan. We can work with completed layouts, or we can design a spot for your student "in-house." Simply send us your professionally designed send-off, or any photos you want us to use in this year's book, by February 28, 2014. Please remember that we are asking for the following donations to help cover the costs of printing these extra pages:
1/4 page: $25.00 1/2 page: $50.00 Full page: $100.00
(Note: The yearbook staff can provide names of and contact information for a few local professionals who have experience producing SJCHS send-offs.)
Now is also the time to submit formal photos for our special senior portrait section. As most of you know, we honor our seniors each year with a special section in The Artizan. Each senior is given a larger portrait box that appears alongside a listing of that student's accomplishments and a special quote or "life verse". The deadline for senior portraits is also February 28, 1914. For both portraits and send-offs, the easiest format is "jpeg" but we can usually convert. Please e-mail all materials to Mr. Bentz at the address below. Any hard-copy materials sent to the school should also be sent care of Mr. Bentz. Please contact Mr. Bentz with any questions or concerns. # # # Contact Info: Jim Bentz jbentz@stjosephutah.com801-394-1515
