Emergency Preparedness
Do you have an emergency plan written for your child care program?
Iowa law requires child care providers to have a written emergency plan in place by October 1, 2016. Emergency plans must include procedures for:
  1. Evacuation and relocation
  2. Sheltering-in-place
  3. Lockdown
  4. Addressing the individual needs of children, including those with functional or access needs
  5. Communication and reunification with parents and other approved individuals
  6. Continuity of operations
Website Documents

Iowa Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R) has been working with many statewide partners to help child care providers prepare for new changes. The most comprehensive information can be found on our website - planning guides, planning templates, optional forms and more!
County Meetings

Each provider will be receiving an invitation to an emergency preparedness planning meeting in their county. Child Care Resource & Referral and local County Emergency Management are hosting informational meetings to answer questions about the new emergency plan requirements, discuss emergency procedures and resources available in your county, and share strategies to help you meet the new emergency plan requirements.

Please note: We will be brainstorming ideas to help you write your emergency plan, but we will not be writing emergency plans at this meeting. If you need assistance writing a plan for your program, your local CCR&R Child Care Consultant is available to help! There is no training credit for this meeting.
