Iowa Early Learning Standards
What are Iowa Early Learning Standards and what do they mean to me?  How can I implement these standards in my child care setting?

Answers to these questions and many more will be addressed in this series class.  Training participants will review child growth and developmentally appropriate practices as they become familiar with the Iowa Early Learning Standards.  Participants will also explore skills of observation and assessment of young children and how to use knowledge gained to plan and develop curriculum.  Earn 20 hours of training credit while exploring learning activities, play and how to implement that knowledge in curriculum planning.

Please see the DHS Training Registry for class availability.

Quality Rating System
Did you know...
Health Child Care of America's online Medication Administration does not count for QRS points.  Currently the training does not even apply to DHS training hours.

Two options are available to receive QRS points needed to meet health & safety criteria:
  • ECE 133 College Course, Medication Administration for Iowa Child Care Providers
  • ServSafe certification
Medication Administration is good for 5 years.  After the first two years, providers must submit documentation of current skills test completion.  The local CCNC issues the skills test certificate.

For more details about Iowa child care & QRS, please view the CCR&R website.
