Happenings-
We are the CEREAL church!
Cereal
For a long time, Grace
Church has been delivering canned goods and other food donations down to the St. Luke's/St. Paul's Food Pantry in Bridgeport. They urgently need donations of all kinds of groceries, but one of the items that they seem to run out of and need a lot of is cereal.

If all of us could remember to pick up a box of cereal (or two or more!)  each time we shop, we'll be able to make a wonderful and much needed contribution for the food pantry each week.  There is a collection basket at the main entrance of the church, and also one in lower Lewis Hall.

Dear friend,
Empty Tomb

Celebrant: Behold what you are.

People: May we become what we receive.

         - From our Eucharistic liturgy

These words, which we will use at the presentation of the Bread and Cup this Easter season, are taken from     St. Augustine's Sermon 57, On the Holy Eucharist. They point to one of the deepest and most mysterious truths of Christian faith: through our participation in the sacraments (particularly baptism and Eucharist), we are transformed into the Body of Christ, given for the world.  Though we come to the church as broken people, here, in the Eucharist, we gather as one body and eat of the one bread and we are once again nourished and empowered to be sent back out into the world to share God's love with the world. On this Easter morning, we proclaim that death is never the end, and that God renews our strength and gives us new life. At what times in your life have you recognized your brokenness? At what times in your life has God given you new life?   Are there ways you can say you have you become what you have received from God? What does it mean to you in your life today to proclaim the words, "Alleluia! The Lord is Risen! The Lord is risen indeed!"

Here at Grace Church we are dancing with life's big questions. If you're searching for a community of faith to belong to, we invite you to come to explore, come to connect and come to believe among us here at Grace Church. We'd enjoy both your company and your participation as we follow in the way of Jesus and learn and grow in discipleship together.
Peace,

Holy Week is Here!

Have you ever travelled the full Holy Week journey? Holy Week and Easter are the highest holy days of the Christian year, and the Episcopal liturgies are especially moving. Travelling through the week and marking each event through ritual is a powerful spiritual exercise. Please consider attending the full week's activities if you can - or at least as many as you can. You will not be sorry to experience the beauty and power of Holy Week.

Maundy Thursday, March 28

6:00 pm - Footwashing Service and Agape Meal

A footwashing service in the chapel followed by a vegetarian potluck agape meal in the church, which will include communion.  At the end of the evening, we will strip the altar. Please bring a simple plate of vegetarian food to share at the meal.

8:00pm - Maundy Thursday Overnighter

The youth from our Ancestors group will stay in the church overnight

Good Friday, March 29

8:15 am - Stations of the cross

A service led by our youth with stations they've created. All are welcome.

noon - Ecumenical Good Friday Service

A time of centering prayer and meditation, led by different clergy members from Trumbull congregations. This service will be held at Unity Hill United Church of Christ this year.

7 pm - Good Friday Liturgy

A solemn service with chanted prayers. Simple communion from reserved sacrament will be served, and worshippers will leave the dark church in silence.

Holy Saturday, March 30

7:30 pm -  The Great Vigil of Easter

The holiest night of the Christian year. This dramatic liturgy begins in darkness. A fire is kindled and the light of Christ comes into the church. The quiet and candlelit first part of the service recounts God's story through history, and we renew our baptismal vows. Then the lights come on, bells ring and music begins as we welcome new life. Bring along a special bell to ring if you have one.

Easter Sunday, March 31

9:30 am Festive Eucharist

Followed by a special coffee hour - please bring special swe

Three Spring Baptisms
On April 7, we look forward to having three baptisms during our Sunday morning service.  Please keep our baptismal families in your prayers as they make preparations to take baptismal vows on behalf of their babies.  Please pray for Aiden and his parents Erika and Doug, Jimmy and his parents Sandy and Darin, and Caitlin and her parents Karen and Amy.  Consider bringing a coffee hour treat to share on April 7 to celebrate this very special day together as a church.
