We are the CEREAL church!
| |
For a long time, Grace
Church has been delivering canned goods and other food donations down to the St. Luke's/St. Paul's Food Pantry in Bridgeport. They urgently need donations of all kinds of groceries, but one of the items that they seem to run out of and need a lot of is cereal.
If all of us could remember to pick up a box of cereal (or two or more!) each time we shop, we'll be able to make a wonderful and much needed contribution for the food pantry each week. There is a collection basket at the main entrance of the church, and also one in lower Lewis Hall.

Dear friend,
"then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known."
-1 Corinthians 13:13b
There may be a day when we finally understand all the things we don't understand now. Maybe there will be a day when we won't see as through a dim mirror, but clearly and fully. Perhaps on that day we will each comprehend fully how to love, and what love truly is. Until that day, it is a great comfort to know that even when we feel lost or confused, disappointed or disillusioned, resentful or in the dark, we are already fully known by someone who knows us better than we can possibly know ourselves. And it is our God of love - a God who knows us fully - that is our rock of refuge and a strong fortress. Today at our annual meeting we'll be facing some challenging issues ahead of us as a church. The way forward for us these days is not always clear and outcomes are as yet unknown. We see only dimly, as through a dark glass. In times like these, can we trust that God knows us fully? Will we trust in our rock of refuge and our strong fortress despite our fears?
Here at Grace Church we are dancing with life's big questions. If you're searching for a community of faith to belong to, we invite you to come to explore, come to connect and come to believe among us here at Grace Church. We'd enjoy both your company and your participation as we follow in the way of Jesus and learn and grow in discipleship together. |

The Noisy Collection
Please save your change for The NOISY Collection on Annual Meeting Sunday, February 3rd. The children and teens of the parish will collect your change and we will donate it to The Bishop's Fund for Children. The Bishop's Fund for Children was created to enhance awareness of the plight of children at risk throughout Connecticut, to give Episcopalians in Connecticut the opportunity to pray for children at risk, and to raise funds to underwrite social service programs that aid these children in our urban, suburban and rural neighborhoods. The service providers are both church and non-church related. The recipients are from varied ethnic and religious backgrounds. For more information on the Bishop's Fund, please visit our Diocesan website at: www.ctdiocese.org
