Chairman's Message

Greetings!
December is upon us, bringing the cool weather and warm hospitality of another holiday season. As a reminder, the chamber is hosting and supporting  several great events this month to promote our members and spread the holiday cheer:

Christmas Parade - The chamber proudly presents the 2015 Lancaster Christmas Parade, "Toy Trains and Candy Canes" on Saturday, December 5. This year's event starts at 10 a.m. on Lancaster Boulevard between 10th Street West and Division Street and features over 100 entries. Thank you to returning sponsors: Lancaster Auto Mall, Lancaster West Rotary, Antelope Valley Fair Association, Time Warner Cable News, Sol Graphix and the City of Lancaster.

Holiday Open House - In lieu of our December luncheon, join the board of directors, ambassadors and staff for the Lancaster Chamber's Holiday Open House on December 9. Stop by the Lancaster Chamber office from from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. to celebrate the season and enjoy refreshments provided by your fellow chamber members. Also, don't forget your unwrapped toy donation for CHiPS for Kids!

Magical BLVD Christmas - On December 12, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., The BLVD will be transformed into a winter wonderland.  Bring the entire family and spend the evening enjoying the sight and sounds of the season. Event highlights include real snow, the AVTA Stuff-A-Bus and, of course, Santa Claus.

Holiday Business-4-Breakfast - Bring a stack of business cards and join us for a special Holiday Business-4-Breakfast. In addition to the great networking, all attendees are invited to bring a wrapped gift for our Wright Story Gift Exchange.

Mayor Parris Met with Chinese Companies

Lancaster, CA. November 23, 2015 -City of Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris met with several Chinese companies and government officials in the Shanghai region of China, regarding business attraction and alternative energy.

"Lancaster's international trade missions continue to open doors, garner government cooperation and support, and develop strong business connections," said Mayor Parris. "In turn, such connections have enabled us to introduce new industries and additional jobs to our local economy."

The primary focus of the meeting was to court mid-size manufacturing firms looking to expand operations in North America and to discuss alternative energy projects. As with the recent establishment of the China-based BYD electric bus factory in Lancaster, the purpose of such projects is to benefit the local economy and increase employment opportunities throughout the Antelope Valley region, as well as propelling Lancaster toward its goal of becoming a net-zero City.

"We believe in proactively building public-private partnerships; evidenced by the City's successful partnerships with organizations such as BYD, KB Homes, and SolarCity," said Mayor Parris. "As we aggressively pursue our net-zero energy goals, we look to develop more such mutually-beneficial associations."
