A Personal Message
photo of Judy

As I sit at my desk, during this incredible wind storm, I reflect on the year that is coming to an end.

The month of October was no less busy than September and November is shaping up to continue this process.  I hate to say it but Christmas is looming.

Pumpkin festival was a great success.  I know some of you did make it out.  If I didn't get a chance to talk with you, it was because I was so busy.

The colours have been spectacular this fall.  Brian and I took our last ride in the boat and the colours were amazing.

We have enjoyed some theatre, concerts, dinners with friends and are busy winterizing the house.

Rudy is still struggling but we are keeping him as comfortable as possible until the end.

We have had several concerts with Shout Sister and were able to help a family create a bathroom suitable for their son in a wheelchair. There is so much gratification in that. All our concerts are for charity and we have had several to help a Syrian family come to Kingston.  Even something you enjoy so much can help so many others.

So my message this month to you is stay calm through the busy two months ahead.  Take care of yourself during this busy and stressful time.  Enjoy your family and friends and let's ride out the end of this year in happiness.

IT'S THE JOURNEY AND NOT THE DESTINATION

Life sure is funny and messages come to us in many forms.  I attended Gem Storm and a particular crystal caught my eye.  I had never really noticed it before and I didn't even know what it was called.  It is separation nodule.   I had to have it.  So I bought it.

I looked up in a book later what this crystal was about and it said it was a reminder that it is about the journey and not the destination.  I thought to myself, that is so interesting that I was attracted to this particular crystal. The next day I opened a book and the first words I read were it's about the journey and not the destination.  Coincidence?  I don't think so.

I don't believe in coincidences, and when I get a message that is so clear more than once, I listen.  I realized that many of us, and myself included are always looking ahead at the destination and missing out on the best part  - the journey to the destination.  We are in such a hurry to lose weight, get a new partner, buy a new home, or complete our goals, that we never stop to enjoy where we are right now.  This can apply to so many areas of our lives, and many goals that we set for ourselves.  Yes, we all set goals and want to complete them down the road, but are we forgetting that the journey to the goal is the best part.

Perhaps we should take note of what is happening along the way more in our lives instead of wishing our lives away, otherwise we miss so much.  There are the words of a song that we sing at shout sister that says "I don't mind if I'm not there yet, I've barely started to pay my debt."  Fits right in.  So to reach any goal, there are steps, debts, or things that need to be accomplished.  Why not enjoy each of those steps along the way, and be happy where you are on your way to the destination.   Then we don't miss out on the joy of the journey along the way.

So my challenge to you this month is to look at the goals and desires in your life and determine where you are not enjoying the journey but are focusing on the destination.  Then slow down and enjoy where you are right now on the journey to where you want to be.  Enjoy life with all it's challenges, steps and goals.  I for one do not want to look back at the end of my life and realize that I missed what's really important in life and that is the journey.   Notice how once we reach a goal, we tend to set another one and keep moving in oblivion.  So let's enjoy each day and each step as we make the journey.

Annual Christmas Open House From Search for Spirit.

Here it is November, and the year is almost over.  I know that I said that last year would be the final open house but so many people voiced their disappointment that I decided to do one last and final open house.  This is truly the last one though.

And so I would like to celebrate the ending of this year by sharing with my clients, friends and family.  The Open house will be Saturday November 14th, from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.  It's a drop in so feel free to drop in anytime during that period, or come and stay for the whole thing.

Here you will find lovely finger food, hot apple cider, tea and coffee all for free.  There will be the slightly used book counter as well.  These books are free to take.  You might want to bring some books you have finished with and add them to the counter and replace them with others that are entirely free.   But again, there is no need to bring anything. This is just a nice way to add to your winter reading list or replace your books, at no cost.

Since I am reducing inventory as well, there will be some incredible specials, some at less than my cost. and less than $5.00.  You might pick up some reasonable gifts for family or friends or just for yourself. There is, however, no obligation to purchase anything.  The main reason for this open house is to share time with like minded people, eat, drink and be merry.

This is my way of thanking you for your choosing me as your teacher or energy worker.  I really do appreciate your business and friendship.  It's been a busy year and I haven't been able to connect with as many of you as I would like to so I will do so at this opportunity.

Please do respond by email if you intend to come, at judy.ward@sympatico.ca just for food purposes.
