College Readiness Program at Texas State

 

College Access Project (C.A.P) Camp is a free boot camp for high school juniors and seniors dedicated to college access and success. 

Topics such as college applications, financial aid, admission essay topics, SAT/ACT preparation, life as a college freshman, and more will help participants prepare for their next major chapter in life. 

Participants will also gain the knowledge and confidence they need to complete all the necessary steps to be accepted into the college or university of their choice.

Pack It Up and Pass It On is underway!
Help sorting donations needed Tues-Friday!

The annual Texas State University "green" move out program at is now underway.
Donations are being collected from each residence hall and university-owned apartment complexes. 
Volunteers are needed to help sort the donated items, which will be given out free to local needy families at a distribution event May 17 to more than 1,000 residents who are clients of United Way of Hays County partners agencies and San Marcos CISD families.
Sorting for the event will take place from May 14-16 in the LBJSC Ballroom daily from 9 a.m. to  4 p.m. 
Local residents are also invited to bring their gently-used items to the LBJSC ballroom May 14-16 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The Office of Community Relations
recently collaborated with Crockett and Mendez Elementary Schools to host 
Fifth Grade College Fairs. TxSt Student  volunteers assisted fifth grade Gifted and Talented students, who manned stations to help the fifth graders learn what they need to know NOW to be prepared financially and academically for higher education when they graduate from high school.
Texas State students promoted college awareness by conducting a student panel and presentation and assisting the fifth graders, under the direction of GT Facilitator for Crockett and Mendez Brenda Butler.
