Here's a great way to clean out your pantry before heading north for the summer! St Alban's Episcopal Church in Auburndale has run a food ministry called "Pantry Shelf" for the last 40+ years. Every 2 weeks, the pantry is open to any persons in Polk County who need food. Each distribution day bags of food are given, free of charge to between 80-100 families in the area. Each family is provided with meat, canned goods, pasta, breads and desserts. Fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables are also provided when they are available to us. If you are able to support this ministry by sharing canned goods and other non-perishable foods, we are planning 2 food pick up days, April 1st and 2nd at Schalamar Creek in the clubhouse lobby.

The Alzheimer's Association Memory Mobile is coming to Schalamar Creek on
April 6th from 10:00am - 4:00pm. The Alzheimer's Association and the James A Haley Veteran's Hospital are working together to bring awareness to the community about dementia and The Telehelp Line for Rural Veterans with Dementia Project.

The Memory Mobile, a mobile office of the Alzheimer's Assocation, will be at Schalamar Creek on April 6. Visitors can obtain a confidential memory screening, receive literature and resources, such as information about the Telehelp Line Project, and talk with an Alzheimer's Association Program Specialist. There is no charge for these services, but appointments are required for most services.

The Polk County Alzheimer Association will be holding three 2-hour programs:
April 11, April 18th, and April 25th - all Mondays at 2:00 in the ballroom at Schalamar.

The Alzheimer Caregivers Support group will also meet at Schalamar on the third Tuesday of each month beginning on May 17th at 10:00am in the Garden Room.
