House Washing - It's blooming time in Florida, so that means lots of pollen and dust - time for spring spruce up! Please walk outside and have a look at all sides of your home. Schedule pressure washing if necessary. We will be letting you know soon if your home is due for a wash.  If you receive a letter and already have washing scheduled, just let us know. Thank you for doing your part to keep our community clean!

Spring Serenade and Easter Parade

The Schalamar Singers' annual Spring Serenade will be held in the ballroom Saturday, March 26 at 7 pm.  Since this is the day before Easter, we invite you to wear an Easter bonnet. Feel free to decorate your bonnet any way you please.   We will have an Easter Parade featuring YOU in your Easter bonnets.  Based on popular vote, we will award a prize to the person wearing the "most lovely" Easter bonnet.  Come with or without a bonnet.  Free admission, Free refreshments.  For more info, call Bill Romoser (666-8021).  See you there!
Food Drive for Pantry Shelf 
St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Auburndale has run a food ministry called "Pantry Shelf" for the last 40+ years.  Every 2 weeks the pantry is open to any persons in Polk County who need food.  Each distribution day of bags of food are given, free of charge to between 80-110 families.  Each family is provided with meat, canned goods, pasta, breads and desserts.  Fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables are also provided when they are available to us.
If you are able to support this ministry by sharing canned goods and other non-perishable foods, we are planning 2 food pick up days, April 1st and 2nd, at Schalamar Creek ballroom.

The Alzheimer's Association Memory Mobile
The Alzheimer's Association Memory Mobile is coming to Schalamar Creek on
April 6th  from 10:00am - 4:00pm.
 
The Alzheimer's Association and the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital are working together to bring awareness to the community about dementia and The Telehelp Line for Rural Veterans with Dementia Project.
 
The Memory Mobile, a mobile office of the Alzheimer's Association, will be at Schalamar Creek on April 6. Visitors can obtain a confidential memory screening, receive literature and resources (such as information about the Telehelp Line Project), and talk with an Alzheimer's Association Program Specialist. There is no charge for these services, but appointments are required for most services.

If you would like a memory screening or care consultation appointment, please RSVP to Resident Contact Ginny Bellew at 863-603-8550 or contact the Alzheimer's Association at 863-292-9210 or thompsons@alzflgulf.org.

The Polk County Alzheimer Assoc. will be holding in the beginning three 2 hour programs, April 11th, April 18th and April 25th, all Monday's at 2:00 o'clock in the ballroom.


Tarpon Springs Adventure - April 14th

Come join the group as we travel to Tarpon Springs for a day full of fun, adventure and shopping.  upon arrival, we will board one of the local tour boats and embark on their sightseeing/shelling cruise.  You'll cruise down the Anclote River, past many of the fishing, shrimping and sponging boats docked at home base.  Sit back and relax as the boat travels out  to Anclote Key, once docked on th undeveloped island you may disembark, sink your toes into the warm pristine sands and shells to your hearts content.  Upon your return to the sponge docks lunch with be served at one of the local Greek restaurants,  then you will have free time to explore the sponge docks and the many shops in the area of Tarpon Springs.  **
Trip includes deluxe escorted motorcoach transportation, 2 hour sightseeing cruise including crews' gratuity, and lunch including servers' gratuity.  There will be a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the club house, or contact Barbara Roberts at bargoro@gmail.com!
