The official filing period for Torrance City Council is now open. There are three council seats up for a vote in the June 7 election. Prospective candidates should pick up a nominating petition from the City Clerk's office, collect 20 - 30 signatures from Torrance voters, and submit a 200-word ballot statement. The City of Torrance Office of Economic Development is excited to host the 9th Annual Torrance Advantage Awards. Award recipients are recognized in four categories for their economic development strategies in 2015. In addition to a prestigious trophy, recipients receive $200 to help with operating expenses, a signed letter of recognition from the Mayor of Torrance, and certificates of commendation from regional elected officials. DANCING WITH THE SOUTH BAY STARS

This annual dance competition pairs South Bay "Stars" with professional dancers to raise funds for local non-profits including YMCA Torrance South Bay, Torrance Historical Society and Providence Little Company of Mary Foundation. The winner will be decided by a panel of judges and an audience vote. Tickets are $65, and proceeds go to the winner's charity of choice. Dance for a Cause... Can't make it to the show?
