The Western Museum of Flight continues its Celebrity Lecture Series with Capt. Kurt Schroeder, a retired test pilot. Schroeder was part of Northrop Grumman's X-29 Project and tested the X-wing fighter, a history-making aircraft with an unprecedented forward sweep wing configuration. Listen as he describes the trials, thrills and triumphs of flying the X-29A. This event is free for WMoF members and $5 for non-members. Aviation History...

FOR THE 9TH ANNUAL TORRANCE ADVANTAGE AWARDS 
The City of Torrance Office of Economic Development is excited to host the 9th Annual Torrance Advantage Awards. Award recipients are recognized in four categories for their economic development strategies of local significance for the year 2015. In addition to a prestigious trophy, recipients received $200 to help with operating expenses, a signed letter of recognition from the Mayor of Torrance, and certificates of commendation from regional elected officials. THE HISTORY OF BLACK DANCE IN AMERICA

In celebration of Black History Month, Central Avenue Dance Ensemble presents "The History of Black Dance in America," the fifth annual multi-media dance concert showcasing African-American vernacular dance. Look forward to styles including Zulu, Shim Sham, Lindy Hop and the Foxtrot. The show will end with a tribute to hip hop dancer and choreographer Madonna Grimes, who will receive a Humanitarian Award for her contribution to the history of hip hop. Meet Ron Libbrecht and Ron Hurst, the artists behind Madrona Marsh Nature Center and Preserve's latest art exhibit, "Ron Squared at the Marsh." This special reception includes a live painting demonstration. Watch the Rons create multi-dimensional acrylic paintings by starting with a simple underpainting, then throwing layers of acrylic paint to make the artwork come to life. The event is free and light refreshments will be provided. See the Rons in Action...
