The Torrance Civic Chorale and Orchestra will present their holiday concert, "Magnificat & Gloria." The concert highlights the music of John Rutter in the first half. Rutter's "Magnificat" features modern rhythmic and harmonic structures written for mixed choir, soprano soloist, pipe organ and chamber orchestra. The second half features "Gloria" by Antonio Vivaldi. This piece is considered Vivaldi's most famous work, and one of the finest examples of a baroque choral and instrumental master work. Stop by the Christmas Fair for a traditional Swedish fika (coffee break) or a glass of hot glögg (mulled wine). Booths at the fair will sell Swedish sweets, art, books, jewelry, toys and Christmas collectibles. The Lucia Pageant will take place at noon and 3 p.m. There will be a children's corner with a craft station and a photo opportunity with Santa. CALIFORNIA EPA: REFINERY SAFETY PUBLIC WORKSHOPS

The California Environmental Protection Agency is holding public workshops on proposed amendments to improve refinery emergency preparedness and response. Workshops will take place at various locations in the state, with two being held in Torrance. Torrance workshops are Wednesday, Dec. 16, with one at 3 p.m. and the other at 6 p.m. Find Out More...

Also, the U.S. Chemical Safety Board will hold a public hearing regarding ExxonMobil's Torrance refinery. That hearing will take place Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016 from 5 to 10 p.m. in Council Chambers at 3031 Torrance Blvd.
