The City of Torrance Community Services Department invites the public to enjoy the annual Halloween Carnival on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Wilson Park, 2200 Crenshaw Blvd. The costume parade will take place at 6:30 p.m. The Carnival is a safe, family friendly alternative to trick-or-treating. It will feature games, crafts, face painting, a photo area, spooky music by DJ Ozzie, a costume parade and much more! Unlimited-use wristbands are $9 per child, and are required to participate in carnival activities. Food trucks will be available at an additional charge. The event will take place, rain or shine. The Torrance Historical Society is hosting a free walking tour of Old Torrance. The docent-led tour will point out many of the historic sites and landmarks of Old Torrance. You will also learn about the explosion that blasted Torrance into existence; why Irving Gill, architect of the Pacific Electric Railway-El Prado Bridge, was fired; why Torrance does not have a cemetery; and more! The Torrance Youth Council is sponsoring its 33rd Annual Christmas Boutique on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wilson Park. The boutique features a variety of hand-crafted goods such as toys, ceramics, needlework, quilts, dolls, jewelry, T-shirts and sweatshirts, stuffed animals and many one-of-a-kind items.
