VOLUME 5  |  ISSUE 27

 July 2-8, 2015

The City of Torrance wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable July 4 weekend. City Hall and all Torrance Libraries will be closed Friday, July 3, 2015 in observance of Independence Day.

A Friendly Reminder...
In anticipation of the holiday, the City of Torrance reminds everyone that within the City of Torrance, it is against the law to possess, store, offer for sale, expose for sale, sell at retail, give, furnish, use or explode any fireworks, including those fireworks defined in the California Health and Safety Code as safe and sane fireworks.
4TH OF JULY PET SAFETY TIPS
1. Make sure your pet is wearing an ID collar. More pets get lost on the 4th of July than any other day of the year.
2. Don't feed your pet human food. Alcoholic beverages, chocolate, corn, onions and baked goods can be especially toxic. Give pets their normal food and make sure they have plenty of water.
3. Keep glow sticks, lighter fluid and sparklers away from pets.  Call a vet immediately if your pet eats any of these because they contain harmful chemicals.
4. Leave pets inside during fireworks. Pets are sensitive to loud noises and may try to run away if the fireworks scare them.
