Join us for an evening with local photographer Robert Landau. He will discuss his extensive photo collection of iconic rock 'n' roll billboards taken along Los Angeles' Sunset Strip throughout the '60s, '70s and into the '80s. These images preserve a rich history of a time when artists used carefully crafted billboards to encourage fans to purchase a new album or buy tickets for an upcoming tour. CITY COMPLETES MAJOR RENOVATION OF PATHWAYS AT TORRANCE PARK
|
 The City of Torrance Community Services Department is proud to announce the completion of a special pathway renovation project at Torrance Park. The recently completed Torrance Park Handicap Accessibility Project was a collaborative effort between Public Works, Community Services, Park Services departments and the Torrance Historical Society. The project replaced deteriorated asphalt pathways with textured concrete pathways in the western portion of the park. Modifications also were made to sidewalks and ramps leading into the park. The improvements were designed and constructed to be in compliance with standards set forth by the Americans with Disabilities Act. Find Out More ...

The Special Olympics Torch is being relayed through the City of Torrance on Monday, June 8 on its way to California State University Long Beach for the Special Olympics Southern California Summer Games scheduled for June 13 and 14. Members of the Torrance Police Department are relaying the torch through our city and will pass in front of City Hall sometime between 11:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. They will be accompanied by members of the Torrance Special Olympics Team who will participate in the Summer Games. Come out and cheer on our athletes, officers and the torch!

17 TORRANCE STUDENTS EARN SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SCIENCE AND MATH CAMP

The American Association of University Women Torrance Branch awarded scholarships to 17 seventh-grade TUSD girls to attend a week-long, AAUW Tech Trek Science & Math Camp for Girls. The scholarships were funded by the Alcoa Foundation, W.M. Keck Foundation, ExxonMobil Corporation, Moog Inc., Time Warner Cable, the Weinan family, Vicki Goorchenko, Athena Paquette-Cormier and the AAUW Torrance Branch. TUSD Tech Trek scholarship winners were recognized at a ceremony with the TUSD School Board on June 1, 2015. Learn More ...
