 "TORRANCE GRAFFITI"

The City of Torrance is committed to maintaining a graffiti free community and therefore residents and business owners can call the City's graffiti hotline at 310-781-7149 and report incidents of graffiti. Graffiti that is reported to the City is removed within 24 hours at no cost to the property owner. General Services would also like to announce the availability of a FREE smart phone app for reporting graffiti in Torrance. The free app, named "Torrance Graffiti" is available for the iPhone on the  Itunes App Store and on Android devices through the  Google Play App Store.

The Torrance Municipal election is just around the corner! 

 

Remember to Vote on Tuesday, June 3 between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. The election is on the Statewide Direct Primary Election conducted by the Los Angeles County Registrar with a lot of important choices for the Torrance voter. Make sure to go to the very END OF YOUR BALLOT to choose those that you wish to represent you for the next four years. 

If you are confused about what to expect when you vote and how the election matters in your life watch helpful Video Vignettes to make things easier come time to vote. Candidates were invited to give voluntary statements and can be viewed on the Candidates Statements Page. We hope to challenge you, the voter, to make a more informed decision based on your observations and values.  If you have relied on others in the past we invite you to step inside to learn more.

JUNE 3RD ELECTION REMINDERS
 

 

Here are some important reminders to make sure your vote is counted!

  • All Vote By Mail ballots must be RECEIVED by 8:00 p.m.  
    Mail Early to ensure the ballot arrives in Norwalk before 8:00p.m. on Tuesday, June 3
    - Or drop off at your Torrance precinct or anywhere in Los Angeles County.

CAN'T MAKE IT ON ELECTION DAY OR DID NOT RECEIVE A BALLOT OR WANT TO VOTE EARLY?

  

Voters can vote early before Election Day at the Registrar/Recorder Norwalk Headquarters as they will be open on weekends to accommodate early voting for the upcoming June 3, 2014 Statewide Direct Primary Election.

HABITAT RESTORATION: SERVICE LEARNING FOR STUDENTS

MADRONA MARSH NATURE CENTER AND PRESERVE

Join a lively group of dedicated individuals at the Madrona Marsh Nature Center and Preserve for their habitat restoration program every Saturday of every month from 8:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Students  will engage in planting natives, weeding, propagating or maybe watering new plants. Wear closed toe shoes, bring gloves and be ready to work! Refreshments are provided and rain or a holiday that fall on a Saturday cancels this program. Please be on time as late comers will not be able to work. If you are 13 years or younger you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Help the Environment...

BAG IT: A LIFE LESS PLASTIC

MADRONA MARSH NATURE CENTER AND PRESERVE

The Madrona Marsh Nature Center and Preserve is hosing a program to educate the public about the damage single use plastic has on the environment. Hint: plastic bags aren't the only ones to blame! This is not intended as an entertaining program and it is not recommended for children. The program includes a one-hour video about the damage single use plastic is doing to our world and a discussion about how individuals can make a difference. Help Heal the World...

WALKING TOUR OF HISTORIC OLD TORRANCE

Since the month of May is National Preservation Month, the Torrance Historical Society is kicking off their annual Walking Tours of Old Torrance (founded 1912) and everyone is invited. This free, docent-led tour begins at the Torrance Historical Museum, and will point out the historic sites and landmarks of Old Torrance. The tour is an easy, but brisk walk covering eight blocks that takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete. Please wear comfortable walking shoes, and guests are invited to bring a camera and a friend! Explore Torrance History...

REMEMBERING THOSE WHO SERVED

A READING OF THE NAMES ON THE WALL

MONDAY, MAY 26, 2014 | 2 - 3:30 PM

VETERANS' MEMORIAL PLAZA
(CORNER OF TORRANCE BLVD. AND MAPLE AVE.) 

On Memorial Day, the Torrance Historical Society will conduct a memorial service for Torrance service personnel who gave their lives in U. S. military actions. The program will include the reading of the 146 Names on the Wall. Those Names include war losses from World War I to those in the Iraq and Afghanistan War. Immediately following the Memorial Service, all are invited to the Torrance Historical Society & Museum (1345 Post Ave., Old Torrance) for a screening of Dennis Kwong's 23-minute Names on the Wall documentary video, which captures the research behind the Names on the Wall project.
