On May 1st, 2014, the Honorable Mayor Frank Scotto will give his final address to the businesses and residents of Torrance at the annual Mayor's State the City Address. Mayor Scotto will reflect on his past eight years as Mayor of Torrance, recap 2013, and provide a glimpse of what is next for this city.

 

The State of the City event takes place Thursday, May 1st, 2014 at the Torrance Marriott, 3635 Fashion Way. Check-in begins at 5:30pm, with the program and dinner to commence at 6:00pm. Tickets cost $75 each. Advance reservations are required by calling (310) 543-3113 or visiting www.TorranceChamber.com.

Come to the Katy Geissert Civic Center Library for a hardback book sale. There will be great books at bargain prices and all proceeds benefit the programs and services of the Torrance Public Library. The sale on Friday, April 25, 2014 is for Friends of the Torrance Library members ONLY, however individuals can join and become a member at the door. The sale open to the general public is on Saturday, April 26, 2014. Special items at the sale include three Ansel Adams books, pop music vinyl records from the 40s and 50s, the Torah in large print, a special group of very small books, and old and unique books in the Collectors Corner. THE SOUTH BAY MUSEUM & GALLERY ART CRAWL

SATURDAY, MAY 3, 2014 | NOON - 6 PM
VARIOUS LOCATIONS

The Torrance Art Museum, a program of the City of Torrance, is organizing the inaugural South Bay Museum and Gallery Art Crawl on Saturday, May 3 from 12 noon to 6 p.m. The purpose of the Art Crawl is to map and publicize the fine art museums and galleries in the South Bay. The South Bay is home to many excellent visual art museums and galleries, and the local and regional communities are invited to visit and explore the following participating fine art institutions for free:

 

Torrance Art Museum, South Bay Contemporary/Zask Gallery, Gallery at El Camino College, Summer Studios Arts Academy in Lomita, Palos Verdes Art Center and Artist's Studio Gallery, California Museum of Fine Art and APC Fine Arts and Graphics Gallery. View the Event Map (PDF) for all Locations.

There will be a closing reception on Saturday, May 3 from 4 to 8 p.m. for participating organizations and art crawlers.
