SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WATER COMMITTEE BOARD URGES REGIONAL CONSERVATION TO HELP COMBAT STATEWIDE DROUGHT

The Southern California Water Committee (SCWC) announced today that its Board of Trustees unanimously approved supporting Gov. Jerry Brown's emergency drought declaration and is encouraging Southern Californians to support the call for additional voluntary water conservation, as the state experiences record dry conditions. National Severe Weather Preparedness Week NOAA's National Weather Service and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) are teaming up for a third year to lead a public education effort aimed at improving the way people prepare for and respond to severe weather.

On Thursday, March 20, 2014, The Office of Economic Development will host the 7th Annual Torrance Advantage Awards at Pacific Skies Aviation. Award recipients will be recognized in four categories for their economic development strategies of local significance for the year 2013.  In addition to a prestigious trophy, recipients will receive $200 to help with operating expenses, a signed letter of recognition from the Mayor of Torrance, and certificates of recommendation from regional elected officials.
