SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WATER COMMITTEE BOARD

URGES REGIONAL CONSERVATION TO HELP COMBAT STATEWIDE DROUGHT

The Southern California Water Committee (SCWC) announced today that its Board of Trustees unanimously approved supporting Gov. Jerry Brown's emergency drought declaration and is encouraging Southern Californians to support the call for additional voluntary water conservation, as the state experiences record dry conditions. 2014 DRAFT PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PLAN

The Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG)  is updating its Public Participation Plan. SCAG is committed to providing meaningful and substantive opportunities for the general public and all interested parties to be involved in SCAG's decision making regarding regional transportation, land use and environmental planning activities. To that end, SCAG released its 2014 Draft Public Participation Plan on January 22, 2014 for a public review and comment period, which ends at 5:00 p.m. on March 7, 2014. Check out the Public Participation Plan posted on January 22, 2014.

Food Forward is a volunteer powered grassroots group of Southern Californians who care about reconnecting to our food system and making change around urban hunger. With the large amount of organic waste that we divert from landfills, and the nutritional value of including fresh fruits and vegetables in the diets of Torrance's children and residents who utilize local food banks and pantries, Food Forward can make a huge impact on important issues that are currently being addressed in Torrance.

 

Starting February 11th, 2014, Food Forward will begin a weekly Farmers Market Food Recovery program at the Torrance Farmers Market.
