DAVID SARGENT AND TONI SARGENT 

WITH PRESTIGIOUS JARED SIDNEY TORRANCE AWARD 

 
On Tuesday, July 23rd, during the regularly-scheduled City Council meeting, Mayor Frank Scotto presented the Jared Sidney Torrance Award for lifetime commitment to the community to David Sargent and Toni Sargent for their individual contributions to the City of Torrance.  Read More... 

TORRANCE CITY COUNCIL APPOINTS 

KURT WEIDEMAN TO FILL VACANT COUNCIL SEAT 

The Torrance City Council appointed a new member Tuesday night to replace Susan M. Rhilinger, who resigned due to health issues.  The council selected Kurt Weideman, former Chairman of the El Camino College Bond Oversight Committee and Torrance Cultural Arts Center Foundation President; and current Torrance Historical Society President.  Weideman was also a current Commissioner on the Torrance Planning Commission, and resigned his commissioner duties just before taking his oath on City Council. MILITARY RECOGNITION PROGRAM 

NOW TAKING APPLICATIONS

The Hometown Heroes Military Banner Recognition Program recognizes our community's men and women in uniform who are currently serving in the Armed Forces, veterans who have served in the past, or veterans of the past who are now deceased. Street banners will be installed honoring individuals, and after being displayed for a minimum of 3 months will be presented to the family. In addition, the City Council will present a proclamation, acknowledging the individual's service to the City and the Nation.
