The Mayor Scotto's 2013 State of the City Address and CitiCABLE introductory video will begin cablecasting on Torrance CitiCABLE Channel 3 (Time Warner) and 36 (Verizon):
  • May 23rd through June 18th at 10:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 8:00 p.m.   
  • June 19th through July 16th at 12:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. 

Both video's will also be online beginning May 23rd at TorranceCA.Gov and YouTube.

FREE ADVANCED COMPOSTING WORKSHOP

 COLUMBIA PARK, 4045 - 190TH ST., NORTHWEST CORNER OF 190TH ST. AND PRAIRIE AVE., TORRANCE

Come and learn ways to reduce and recycle yard waste by composting, "grasscycling," worm composting, and water-wise gardening at Torrance's permanent composting and water-wise gardening demonstration site at Columbia Park. It is operated in conjunction with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works.

 

The Beginning Workshop teaches backyard composting, worm composting, grass recycling, water-wise gardening, and fire-wise gardening.

 

The Advanced Workshop teaches organic gardening, the art and science of good soil, environmentally responsible ways to control pests, conserving water around the garden, and using native and drought-tolerant plants. For more information, Read More...

Peggy Hesketh's writing has appeared in Calliope and the Antietam Review, and her short story A Madness of Two was selected by Elizabeth George for inclusion in her anthology Two of the Deadliest. A long-time journalist, Peggy teaches writing and rhetoric at the University of California, Irvine. Telling the Bees is her first novel.
