Brrrrr. I readily admit we got spoiled by a long autumn and a mild start to the winter. Now that we seem to have entered the deep freeze, here are some arty events at the library designed to warm your heart.

Pat Dobrinska's adult art students have their annual show up in the library meeting room this month, and once again we are impressed with the talent on display. Stop by Tuesday afternoon, January 12, to meet the artists, nibble on some tasty tidbits, and enjoy the variety of works on display.

Prefer moving pictures? Our annual Road to the Oscars film series may be just the ticket. Popcorn and award-nominated movies every Tuesday evening from January 19th through the end of March. Or perhaps beyond...

And if you like to create your own artworks, we have opportunities for you as well. The weekly knitting group welcomes people of all ages, experience, (and even those who wish to crochet instead). LEGO Club meets Thursdays after school for budding architects. And we have just recently begun a colouring club for teens and adults. See the article below for details.

Warm up with some art at the library this month. As the popular meme reminds us, earth without art is just "eh."

Coloring has come a long way in the past couple of years. Come color with us every second and fourth Saturday morning!
Colour Your World

Adult coloring took the country by storm in 2015, and it appears ready to conquer public libraries in 2016. We decided to purchase some books, artist quality colored pencils, and ultra-fine markers late last year and have started coloring days at the Caestecker.

Every second and fourth Saturday morning, from 10:00 to noon, you are invited to stop in and color. We'll have coffee and something to nibble on in addition to the aforementioned supplies. You are also welcome to bring your own books and media. Rediscover just how fun and relaxing coloring can be, especially when you can color with friends.

Due to the intricacy of the patterns, these coloring days are geared to teens and adults. We will, however, have coloring sheets and crayons available for our younger artists.
The Road to the Oscars begins again on Tuesday, January 19th, at 6:30 p.m.
It's Show Time!

One of the library's best-loved events is set to make its return beginning Tuesday, January 19th.

The Road to the Oscars film series returns that evening, and will continue on through March. Once the nominees are announced on January 14th we will have a better idea of what films we will be showing. We will match up the list of nominated films with what has been released on DVD, and take it from there. If the Golden Globe awards are any indication, it will be another interesting year.
