Newsletter - Merry Month of May Edition

Greetings!

Having color back in the landscape has put all of us at the library in a merry mood. Well, color plus the opportunity to finally start storing the parkas and snow boots...

Thank you to everyone who donated items, hauled books downstairs, organized the displays, staffed the checkout table, and shopped (boy, did you shop!) for the Friends Spring Book Sale last weekend. Nearly $2100 was raised in a day and a half. Your generosity never ceases to amaze me.

May seems to be a month of celebrations. Here at the library we are commemorating Children's Book Week, Bike Month, Get Caught Reading Month, and, of course, both Mother's Day and Memorial Day. We have programs scheduled for nearly all of these events, and we hope you can join us for at least one or two.

The end of the school year is rapidly approaching, which means our hours of operation will soon be lengthening for the summer. Between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend we will be open an hour longer on Monday evenings (until 7:00) and two hours longer on Saturdays (9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.). More time to connect you with just the book or movie you're looking for makes for a merry librarian, indeed.

Happy May!

Linda DeNell, Director

Catch Wheel Fever at the Library on May 15!
Author Nick Hoffman wheels into Green Lake for a program on Thursday, May 15th.

We're celebrating National Bike Month at the library with a window display, posters drawn by local students, and a visit by Wisconsin author Nick Hoffman. Nick co-wrote Wheel Fever: How Wisconsin Became a Great Bicycling State last year with Jesse Gant, and we've been enjoying their stories here for months. We're very happy to host Nick's visit to Green Lake on Thursday, May 15th for a 6:30 program. A Q&A session and book signing will follow.

Nick's presentation is sponsored by the Caestecker Library Foundation.
You're Invited to Tea!
Come to our Spring Tea (and Lemonade) Party on Saturday, May 17th!

Our friends Peter and Jill Hennes are hosting a tea (and lemonade) party at the library and you're invited! Whether you favor the fancy clothes, the steaming tea, the dainty finger sandwiches, or the delectable desserts, you're bound to find a lot to like at out Spring Tea (and Lemonade) Party. There will be food and drink, of course, but also activities and stories to share and memories to make. The party gets started at 1:00 and will run until about 2:30.
Reservations are requested by Friday, May 16th at noon, so that Peter and Jill (and Linda) know how many cups to wash and treats to prepare. There is no set cost for the event; your donations to the friends will be gratefully accepted.
