Newsletter - Welcome Spring Edition
|
Greetings!
Trusting that spring really is here to stay, we've loaded up the next few weeks with all kinds of programs and special events. Hope you're in a "spend a bunch of time at the library" kind of mood!
Dennis McCann kicks off a multi-month library celebration of the Great Lakes this coming Saturday morning with This Superior Place - Stories of Bayfield and the Apostle Islands. Dennis was a longtime readers' favorite with the Milwaukee Journal, and now splits his time between Madison and Bayfield. Get an insider's perspective on living on the biggest and wildest of the Great Lakes. Dennis's talk begins at 11:00.
I don't know much about lake sturgeon aside from their prehistoric looks and propensity for growing very, very large. Thankfully, Kathy Kline knows a lot about these fish and the people who find them irresistible. She visits the library on Sunday afternoon at 2:00. Book signings will follow both author visits.
If birds are your critter of choice, stop by and help us celebrate the end of Bird Month with "Whooping Cranes: Back from the Brink" on Tuesday evening, April 29th at 6:30. Members of the Operation Migration group will be on hand to give us an inside look at their work to establish an eastern migrating flock of these elegant endangered birds.
Add in a big book sale, all of our ongoing events, World Book Night, and an upcoming visit by a Wisconsin author and filmmaker in the next couple of weeks and you have a recipe for a bustling spring at the library. Come enjoy a "slice" of the action (second and third helpings always available). Linda DeNell, Director
