Newsletter - is it Spring yet?!
|
Greetings!
The calendar says Spring officially arrives next week. And the groundhogs promised us an early Spring. But as I type this newsletter, there's still plenty of snow on the ground and more in the forecast. What to do? Never fear - the library is here!
We have an exciting new program to jump start the season. The library is starting a seed lending library. That's right - you can now check out seeds as well as books and music and movies here at the Caestecker Library.
Why? Well, it's time. Folks have long been concerned about knowing where their food comes from. Gardening is good exercise. Families are always looking for activities that every member can participate in to some extent. The economy still isn't back where it needs to be. And as a community center, the library is well positioned to help those who are curious about gardening but in need of a little help. Or a push. Or some support.
We're kicking things off on Saturday, March 23rd with a seed exchange. We will be partnering with the Master Gardeners and local plant folks to offer educational programs on gardening. And starting April 1st (no fooling) you will be able to check out a packet or two or three of seeds to grow this year. All we ask is for you to save some seeds from the plants you grow and return them in the fall with some feedback, so that next year we have them available again.
There may be snow on the ground, but it's time to Get Growing, Green Lake!
