Schools to Dismiss Early on Friday, December 2
With the Mary Persons High School football team's advance to the semi-finals of the Georgia High School Association State Championships, the Monroe County School System will follow an early release schedule on Friday, December, 2, 2016.

The following release times will take place at each campus on Friday, December 2, 2016:

The Mary Persons High School Bulldogs will play the Cartersville Canes at Weinman Stadium in Cartersville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday night. The administration of Monroe County Schools has chosen to follow the early release day to assist with several issues:

  • To accommodate the number of school buses and drivers needed to transport the football team, high school marching band, and cheerleaders to Cartersville.
  • To provide adequate time, taking into account traffic concerns in and around the Atlanta area, for parents, students, and staff who want to travel to the football game in Cartersville.

The Monroe County Board of Education, administration and staff, and the Monroe County Community are proud of the accomplishments of our student athletes and ask that all stakeholders support these students in their efforts.   While early release is not convenient for all persons involved, we ask for understanding and patience of all stakeholders during this exciting time for our school system.
