Remembering Mr. Wiggs, MCMS Science Teacher

The Monroe County Schools family today is mourning the passing of Monroe County Middle School Teacher, Timothy Wiggs. A sixth grade teacher, Mr. Wiggs was in his third year teaching science with Monroe County Schools.

Mr. Wiggs, 26, was hospitalized earlier in the month but was home recovering at the time of his death.

System administrators and school system counselors assisted at both the Hubbard Middle School Campus and Banks Stephens Campus this morning as students and staff arrived for school. Counseling will continue to be available as students and staff work through the grief process.

This morning, many sixth graders wore "crazy socks" and green shirts -- two of Mr. Wiggs favorite things -- to honor his memory.

Superintendent Dr. Mike Hickman asked all members of the Monroe County School System family to please keep Mr. Wiggs' family and friends in their thoughts and prayers. Funeral arrangements will be shared when they are released.
