Fall Plant Sale
The FFA and High School Horticulture Class will be having the annual Fall Plant Sale on Tuesday October 4th from 7 am until 5 pm. We have fall bedding plants (pansies, violas, ornamental cabbage, flowering kale, and snapdragons). We also have cool season vegetables (broccoli, cabbage, collards, kale, and lettuce). These will be sold in flats for $8 or $2 per 6/pak. We also have potted Chrysanthemum's for $8 each.

and an iPhone to experience ancient Greek theatre before
they begin their study of Antigone.

Healthcare Science Students Prepare
for Emergencies/Disasters
Healthcare Science students learn about using tourniquet and wound packing in emergencies and disasters. These students are working toward their certification in First Aid, Adult & Pediatric CPR & AED.

Psychology Students Study Brain Development
Ms. Duncan's Psychology classes have been conducting research, constructing an essay, peering editing, and constructing a final essay comparing the similarities and differences between the development of the adult and teenage brains and how this newly discovered knowledge impacts them personally as a teenager. There were certainly some "Ah-ha!" and "Ohhhhh, ok!" moments during this assignment!!

Rifle Team Interest Meeting
We will conduct a Rifle Team interest meeting on September 28, 2016 from 3:30 - 4:00 p.m. in the Media Center. Riflery is a Georgia High School Association sport and is open to all Mary Persons students. You must have a current physical on file with the school, possess current school insurance and be eligible to participate in extra-curricular activities in order to try out for the team.

The Mary Persons Parent Assisting Children (MPAC) group serves as the parent organization of MPHS. MPAC welcomes parents, guardians and family members to join our group and take part in enhancing the educational experience here at Mary Persons High School by sharing ideas, participating in events and assisting, students, staff and administration when the opportunity arises. Senior Recognition Ads Senior Recognition Ads are on sale until November 4th. These ads for seniors normally sell out before the deadline. These ads are designed for those who wish to congratulate their graduating seniors with a personal message and photographs in the MPHS yearbook. Ads are sold in 3 sizes: full page ($250), ½ page ($135), and ¼ page ($75). If you are interested in buying a Senior Recognition Ad (often called "Baby Ads"), complete the form and return to Mrs. May at MPHS with pictures, message, and money before November 4th.

FFA News
FFA members, Courtney Stovall and Austin Wiggins participated in the Middle Georgia Market Lamb Show which was held in the Upson-Lee High School Agricultural Center on Saturday September 17th. In the High School Showmanship Class, Courtney Stovall placed 2nd and Austin Wiggins placed 3rd. Also, Courtney placed 1st in the 2nd weight class, and she also placed 2nd with her other lamb in the 3rd weight class. Austin placed 4th in the 3rd weight class.

The Technology Student Officers traveled to the North Georgia Mountains for their visit trip to Chapter Officer Retreat for Excellence.
These 5 student officers are:

These students worked together to learn their roles and how to plan a year filled of fun activities for TSA members.

Softball News
Mary Persons softball team beat Upson Lee 2-1 in last week's region game. Megan Bell pitched the complete game with 13 strikeouts. Destiny Middleton went 2-3 at the plate. Tiella Banks and Emsley Smith both had a double and an RBI in the 7th inning to help lead the Dogs to a victory.
Mary Persons defeated Perry 8-0 behind Emsley Smith's pitching. Offense was a total team effort tonight. Allyssah Mullis and Lori Smith went 2-3 at the plate, Kiambra Zellner had a big hit creating 2 RBIs, and Tiella Banks hit a triple. The Bulldogs are now 16-5 in the season and 8-0 in the region.
