Engineering Students Complete First Challenge
Engineering students completed their first challenge within the first week of school! Their task was to design a self-propelled vehicle to travel from the bottom of a hill upwards, delivering a passenger safely to the top. They had VERY limited materials! Click here for more pictures.

Econ Students Use Google Classroom & Dojo
Coach Simmons and Mrs. Fields' Economics classes got set up in Google Classroom and Class Dojo. They will use Classroom for communication and classwork, while Dojo will be used to track bonus points they earn for being a CHAMP in class. These points will earn them class dollars to spend at auctions each 9 weeks. |

SuperFan & His Sideline Experience
On Thursday, August 11 MP Football superfan Gerald Walton got the privilege to be on the sidelines during the scrimmage game against Southwest High School. Gerald was accompanied by Mr. Art Jenkins. Before the game, Gerald got to tour the team's new weight room, interact with coaches, meet the officials, hang out with cheerleaders, and get a picture with his highly recruited friend, #5 Malik Herring. During the game, Gerald and Malik had a chance to discuss plays. After the game, Gerald and the team shook hands with their defeated opponents.
Mr. Walton expresses his sincere gratitude for the opportunity to spend an evening with his heroes!

Senior News
Anyone interested in applying for Senior Executive Council should email susan.little@mcschools.org and request an application. Senior Exec is responsible for coordinating senior Homecoming activities, the Kids Yule Love program, and a canned food drive. Application forms are due August 19th.
Senior Picture Retakes
All seniors should have taken their senior pictures during the summer. Seniors who were unable to attend during the summer may take make-up pictures at the school on September 8th, by appointment only. Only photos taken by Lifetouch will be in the yearbook or used by the school. Students may sign up with Mrs. May in room 206.
Senior Recognition Ads
Senior Recognition Ads are on sale until November 4th. These ads for seniors normally sell out before the deadline. These ads are designed for those who wish to congratulate their graduating seniors with a personal message and photographs in the MPHS yearbook. Ads are sold in 3 sizes: full page ($250), ½ page ($135), and ¼ page ($75). If you are interested in buying a Senior Recognition Ad (often called "Baby Ads"), complete the form and return to Mrs. May at MPHS with pictures, message, and money before November 4th.

in hands on training and learn what it takes
to be in law enforcement in today's world.
Requirements to apply:
- Must be 14 years old/finished 8th Grade
- Maintain a 2.0 GPA in school
- No felony or major misdemeanor convictions
- Must be willing to learn and work hard!

Peach State Tour
All students are invited to a Peach State Tour Information Session to learn more about Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia State University, and the University of Georgia. The event is FREE and open to ALL high school students and their families, but space is limited! This session will take place at Rutland High School on August 22nd from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Membership requirements:
- A student must have a 90 or above cumulative average.
- After joining the student must maintain a cumulative average of 90.
- Members in grades 10-12 must also complete a required number of volunteer service hours in order to maintain membership.

Cross Country News
If anyone is interested in being a part of the Bulldog Cross Country Team for the 2016 season please see Coach Herr (Main Campus) or Coach McElhaney (Freshman Campus). You will need a current physical to participate. Practice is held Monday - Friday, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. beginning at the track.

Do YOU Have Your Tickets Yet??
Mary Persons Bulldogs open the season with a special game against Houston County at the 2016 Corky Kell Classic at Mercer University Five Star Stadium on Thursday, August 18 at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are available at local banks, MP main office, and any Touchdown Club member.
The Corky Kell Classic kicks off the Georgia high school season with a series of games also broadcast live on Fox Sports South and streamed live on Fox Sports Go. Launched in 1992, the MetroPCS Corky Kell Classic is a Georgia high school football event and was the first event ever to be held at the Georgia Dome. The Classic kicks off the highly competitive high school football season in Georgia every August with partial proceeds benefiting the Kell Foundation to fund scholarships. Throughout the years, the games have included top talent in both Georgia and across the nation.

Softball News
Mary Persons softball team fell to GMC 0-2. Megan Bell pitched the entire game with only 2 hits allowed. Destiny Middleton and Lori Smith went 1-3 at the plate. The Bulldogs are now 0-2 in the season.
The Lady Bulldogs got their first win over Jackson 14-1 behind Emsley Smith's pitching. Allyssah Mullis and Lori Smith went 3-5 at the plate. It was a great team effort last week for the dogs. We are now 1-2 in the season and our next game is at Pike on Wednesday, the 17th.

The Volleydogs defeated West Laurens 2-1 and lost to a close match with Stratford Academy 1-2. The next matches are at home onTuesday, August 16 at 5:00 and 7:00.
