All students who are interested in taking Honors, Accelerated, MOWR, and/or Advanced Placement (AP®), courses during the 2016-2017 school year in 9th - 12th grade must fill out and turn in this signed acknowledgement form with their 2016-17 registration sheet. A new form must be completed when registering each school year.

Dr. Bazemore's 10th grade students checked out books using OverDrive, our Monroe County Schools elibrary.

Students Assist with Basketball Team Laundry
Mr. Jenkins and a group of his students have been assisting Coach Nix and the Boys' Basketball team by doing the team's laundry. Through this, Mr. Jenkins is teaching his students how to wash, dry, and fold clothes as well as the importance of contributing to their community. Mr. Jenkins and his group appreciate Coach Nix allowing them to opportunity to complete these tasks.

MPTV's ChamMP Channel is recruiting for next year's broadcasting elective class.  GaDOE Parent Survey The Georgia Department of Education Parent Survey contains 24 questions. Parents may complete the survey using their personal computer, smartphones or tablet. For parents that do not have access to the Internet, please visit our schools to complete the Georgia Parent Survey. We encourage all parents to participate in the Georgia Parent Survey because the data will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis. Individual data results from the Georgia Parent Survey will not be available to the public and will not be posted online.

Attention Seniors & Parents
If you have been accepted to a college, please bring in a copy of your acceptance letter or email to us so we can include your picture on the college acceptance bulletin board.
HOPE GPA progress reports for seniors, updated with fall semester grades, are available in your account at GACollege411.org. If you have created an account but forgotten your login, the Counseling Office can help you retrieve it. Also, be sure that your entire legal name and social security number are entered into your student profile. If this information is incorrect it could delay the process of your HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarship after graduation.

Students must log into their school email accounts to register.

 Academic Team News The MP Tennis Team traveled to Warner Robins yesterday to take on Northside in their first match of the year. MP went 5-5 overall in match play. Ellie Cottle and Anna Wilks both dominated in ladies' singles, and the boys, which included Harrison Frye, Connor Johnson, Jake Johnston, Tucker Melton, Jordan Carr, David Johns, and Timothy Clements, all put up valiant efforts in defeat. Our next match is Wednesday, February 17, at 4:00 at home against Jackson. Come out and support the tennis team!

 Art Club News The MP Art Club is hosting an Empty Bowls Project dinner the evening of Thursday, March 17 from 6:30 to 8:30 in the cafeteria. Tickets are $10.00, and include a light meal and a ceramic bowl, hand-made by our art students. All proceeds will be donated to Monroe County Backpack Buddies to help fight hunger in our community. Please see Mrs.Trevitt in room 224 for tickets.

 Basketball News
Congratulations to the Varsity Boys Basketball Team for their 83-50 win last Tuesday night over Veterans to advance to the semi-finals of the region tournament.The boys secured a spot in the State Basketball Tournament this week. They ended with a 15-10 record for the season.
The Varsity Boys Team is the #2 seed from Region 2AAAA and will be hosting a state tournament first round match up against Burke County Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. Be there to support our basketball team!

 Soccer News
The Varsity Girls Soccer team improved to 2-0 on the season by defeating arch rival Jackson 2-0 at Billy Lancaster Field. The Bulldogs out shot the Red Devils 14-1 on the evening. Emily Barnes scored both goals and was assisted by Annie Giles and Maiah Wiley. Lori Smith made 1 save on the night en route to her 2nd shutout of the season. MP will open region play against West Laurens at home Thursday, February 18 at 5:30 p.m.

The Varsity Boys Soccer team cruised to another easy victory to start the season, dismantling Jackson, 6-0 last week. The Bulldogs jumped out to a quick 2-0 first-half lead and then piled on another four goals in the second half. Goalkeeper Brock Hulsey earned his second straight shutout to start the season. Curtis Bramble, William Stevick, Trea Atkins, and James Davis anchored the defense for MP. Chacce Barfield led the offense with four goals. Dawson Daniel and Davis also found the back of the net. Up next, the Bulldogs host West Laurens on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Billy Lancaster Field. COME OUT AND SUPPORT THE DEFENDING REGION 2-AAAA CHAMPIONS!!

Brett Brewer competed at State this past Friday and Saturday. He lost a hard fought first match on Friday against Jamie Arroyo from Chestatee High School. Brett competed again on Saturday and lost another hard fought match.
