GaDOE Parent Survey
The Georgia Department of Education Parent Survey  contains 24 questions. Parents may complete the survey using their personal computer, smartphones or tablet.  For parents that do not have access to the Internet, please visit our schools to complete the Georgia Parent Survey.  We encourage all parents to participate in the Georgia Parent Survey because the data will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis.  Individual data results from the Georgia Parent Survey will not be available to the public and will not be posted online.  
Construction Students Make Sign for Gym 

Construction students are putting the finishing touches on the new
gymnasium signs. The interlocking MP logos were cut from foam
insulation board and coated with a hard-shell epoxy finish. These signs
will be installed above the goalposts in the gymnasium.  
ELA Students Express "Thanks"

Ms. Metcalf & Ms. Floyd had their students complete an Activating Task (AT) warm-up to begin their class.  Students were asked to write something specific for which they were thankful.  It started out as something fun, but they were pleased with the thoughtful responses that students contributed.

Congratulations to Dr. Julie Bazemore's 5th period class for 
raising the most money! Dr. Bazemore's class is the winner of the 
pizza party, compliments of Leadership Monroe!

With more than 300 homeless students in the Monroe County School system, many lacking basic necessities such as food, clothing, hygiene 
items, school supplies, the goal of this activity is to make a positive difference in these students' education and life.  THANK YOU!!

College Application Fees Waived
The following colleges have agreed to waive their application fees.  Apply via your gacollege411 account.
  • Georgia Gwinnett College will waive its $20 application fee, from Oct. 23 to Nov. 23. Apply directly at www.ggc.edu.
  • Savannah State College will waive its $20 application fee.  Apply via your gacollege411 account.
  • Albany State University will waive its $20 application fee for the month of November.

AP Exam Payments
Students may start making payments for their AP exams beginning November 6.  The cost of each exam is $93.  

The fee schedule is:
                                  Nov. 6              Feb. 5
                                  Dec. 4              Mar. 4
                                  Jan. 8               

This will allow student to make 5 low payments (4 low payments of $20.00 + 5th payment of $13.00).  
Parents may also pay for AP exams online via their MySchoolBucks account.  All major credit cards are accepted and there will be an additional $3 charge.  Please see Ms. Burston if you have any questions.

Chorus Students Recognized
Jackson Harvey and Sharon Kinsella
Jackson Harvey & Sharon Kinsella brought home honors 
from the National Association of Teachers of Singing vocal 
competition held this past Saturday.  Sharon placed 3rd in the 
upper high school women's classical division. Jackson won 1st 
place in the upper high school men's classical category and 
sang in the Winner's Recital that concluded the competition.
Lindsey Kinsella and Rebecca Clement
Lindsey Kinsella and Rebecca Clements made the GMEA All-State Reading Chorus. This is the first time anyone from MP has 
auditioned. Lindsey Kinsella scored higher than any other Alto 
in our GMEA District.  They will sing in Athens from January 28-30 
with this prestigious Chorus, the highest honor in GA.

Some Chorus students, their parents, and faculty members 
recently visited The Fox Theatre in Atlanta to see Cinderella
A total of 55 people participated.  Prior to the show 
participants dined at the Hard Rock Cafe.

Best Buddies News
Best Buddies will have a Thanksgiving social on Thursday, November 19th at 3:10 in the media center. We'll make a craft and have snacks. Please bring a canned good to donate!

  • Krispy Kreme Doughnut Sale - Order forms and money are due Monday, November 16th.  Doughnuts will be delivered Wednesday, November 18th.
  • Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes - due Wednesday, November 18th.
  • Convention Permission Form & $50 deposit are due Thursday, November 19th.
  • Kids Yule Love - Earn 1 point for every $2 donation (5 points max - however, you may donate as much as you like) toward the purchase of bikes. The deadline to donate is Monday, December 7th.

  • Celebrate Enterprise Day is on  Monday, November 16th.  
  • The last day to sign up for Region Leadership Competition is Tuesday, November 17th
  • Wear purple for "Purple for Preemies Day" on November 17th.
  • iCare Boxes - Please bring in shampoo, conditioner, wash cloths, toothpaste and toothbrushes for our iCare project. The deadline is November 20th.

Main Campus meetings take place the 2nd & 4th Friday of every month in the Media Center on the Main Campus. The next meeting will be on Friday, November 20th.
 
Freshman Campus meetings take place on the Freshman Campus each Wednesday in the Media Center at 7:30 a.m.
Key Club News
Some of our Key Club members participated in the annual "Trick or Canning."  Members went out into the community and placed fliers throughout numerous neighborhoods several days before pick up, and then returned on Halloween to collect the donations.  All donations were taken to the Forsyth United Methodist Church's food bank.  Thank you to all who donated.

Congratulations to Coach Kyle Ward and the competition cheer squad for their 2nd place finish at the region cheer competition this past Saturday in West Laurens. State cheer competition in Columbus is next!
 
Cross Country News
Both girls and boys finished 20th out of 31 teams. Scoring for the girls were: Morgan Haney(63), Kayley Dale(100), Payton Poland(133), Carrie Neal(134), Georgia Wilcox(140). Naomi Sanders, and Summer Sanders also ran. There was a total of 211 girls who ran. Scoring for the boys: Lawson Weldon(71), Nathan Devane(86), TJ Williams(95), Matt Miller(96), Jakob Cox(164). Thomas Carter and Nicholas Joseph also ran. There was a total of 213 boys who ran. 




Football News
Congratulations to Coach Brian Nelson, coaching staff, and players for winning the region 2AAAA championship this past Friday! Our first round playoff game is vs. Wayne County this Friday. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

Soccer tryout meeting to be held November 12
A meeting for anyone interested in trying out for the MPHS soccer teams will be held Thursday, November 12 at 3:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. Required information needed for tryouts will be provided at the meeting.
