MP Teacher Spotlight
This week's spotlight is on Dr. Julie Bazemore. Dr. Bazemore graduated from Macon State with her associates degree, from Tift College with her bachelors degree, and from Mercer University with her masters and her doctorate degrees. She has taught for 29 years and she said she was inspired to become a teacher by her first grade teacher, Mrs. Cook. When asked what she likes best about her job, she said "The students! Now I'm teaching students who are children of former students. I love it!" Asked what her favorite memories from high school years were, she said "I was the yearbook editor at MPHS in 1983. We had so much fun in that class!" She worked as a switchboard operator while in college, and she and her husband own a small business.
Her hobbies include watching football and reading. One day she would "love to travel to England and see some of the pla ces I read about in British Literature!" Her favorite book is Harper Lee's To Kill a Mocking Bird. Her favorite sport is football, and her favorite team is the MPHS Bulldogs. Items on her bucket list are "renovate an old house, own a clothing store, and teach (part-time) in college.
