MPHS Students Win at SkillsUSA Competition
Mary Persons High School's Cameron Childrey placed first in Power Equipment Technology Written Test Competition.  James Pace placed second in Automotive Electronics/Ignition.

More than 2000 students competed in a variety of events based on SkillsUSA's high school programs throughout the state - Architecture, Construction, Communication, Transportation, Culinary Arts, Personal Care Services and Public Safety. Contests are based on industry standards, and they're designed and judged by business partners. Business and industry partners welcomed competitors into their facilities to test their skills, and created a dynamic Career Expo for attendees.

"Through
SkillsUSA, students learn skills that prepare them for the future and help them discover careers they love," State School Superintendent Richard Woods said. "As we work to personalize education for all students, opportunities for hands-on career exploration could not be more important. I congratulate these student winners and commend every student who participated."
KBS Kindergarteners Create American Flag
Mrs. Stephens' Kindergarten class created an American Flag as the culminating activity for their unit on American Symbols.
We are Going Google:
New Email Addresses for Staff Begin this Week

Monroe County Schools will take some electronic communications to the cloud this week as we transition from our @monroe.k12.ga.us email addresses to @mcschools.org addresses.  Until Labor Day, you can still reach any staff member at their @monroe.k12.ga.us as well.  Our primary email operations are moving to @mcschools.org accounts administered by Google on Wednesday, April 15.  We  are joining over 30 other school districts in Georgia which are also using this platform for mail to reduce costs and provide more mail option services to staff.
