MP Teacher Spotlight
This week's spotlight is on Ms. Lori Greenway.  Ms. Greenway graduated from Wesleyan College where she received her bachelors degree in English. She earned her masters degree and her specialist degree from Georgia College and State University. She has been teaching for 14 years. She said her 6th grade teacher inspired her to become a teacher. One of her favorite memories from high school years was she was chosen "Most Likely to Succeed."

Ms. Greenway likes to collect magnets.  When asked about interesting places that she has traveled she said "I have been to several places but my favorites are New York and St. Lucia."  Her favorite book is The Mayor of Casterbridge. Her "bucket list" includes "seeing a live tornado, teaching a college course, and growing strawberries."

Bulldogs knock off Upson-Lee, set to host first place Veterans on Friday night

The Varsity Boys team picked up a huge region win last Friday at previously unbeaten Upson-Lee. The Bulldogs handed the Knights their first loss of the season, 2-0. Senior Josh Hampton scored early in the first half on a penalty kick after he was fouled in the box during an obvious goal-scoring opportunity. The Bulldogs controlled most of the possession throughout the rest of the half and went to the locker room with the one goal  lead. In the second half Upson-Lee refused to go away quietly, bombarding the MP defense with attack after attack. Goalkeeper Harper James and defenders Addison Chapman, William Stevick and Jacob Berkebile anchored the back line and somehow managed to keep the hosts from finding the back of the net. Midfielder James Davis then found a streaking Hampton down the left wing on a counterattack and the senior finished sublimely, tucking away a left-footed shot off the post and in for his second goal of the night. The victory kept MP tied for second in the region, with first-place Veterans coming to town Friday night for a key region game. Kick-off at Billy Lancaster Field is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Varsity Girls team defeated #8 Upson Lee Friday night 1-0. Annie Kate Barnes scored the game winner on an assist by Chloe Goss in the first half. The Bulldogs improved to 8-0 on the season as Toni Kiwit recorded her 6th shutout of the season.
