Transition Night for 8th Grade Students and Parents
All 8th grade parents and students are invited to attend 8th Grade Transition Night which will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at 6:00 pm in the Mary Persons High School cafeteria.  Please note that this meeting is occurring much earlier this school year than previous years.  This is the initial meeting for planning your child's freshman course schedule.  Informed parents are vital to the success of all school programs and provide students with greater confidence as they advance toward graduation.  Graduation requirements and course selections for the 2015-2016 school year will be discussed.
TGScott Chorus Members Perform in State Event
The TGScott Elementary Honor Chorus, under the direction of Sheila Kendrick, recently went to Tifton  to participate in the 31st Statewide Elementary Honor Chorus held at the UGA Tifton Campus Conference Center.  The girls sang with the Allegro Choir and performed Benedictus and Hosanna, When I Close My Eyes, Three Quotes by Mark Twain, and Old Dan Tucker.  They did a great job and represented Monroe County well.   Pictured are (l-r):  Mary Michael Tane, Emily Adams, Gabriella Miller, Heather Tillman, and Madelyn Causey.

Teaming Up to Give Thanksgiving to the Community
On Tuesday, November 25, Monroe County Schools employees teamed up with Wrights Grove Baptist Church, community leaders from the City Council, Forsyth Police Department, and Reverend PJ Flores from Mable White Baptist Church to feed students and their families a hot Thanksgiving meal.  The group also provided haircuts and coats.  The Thanksgiving feast was held at Hubbard Middle School Hubbard Campus. The Young Men's Leadership Club (pictured above with Mrs. Jenise Watts of Hubbard Elementary School), sponsored by Mr. Timothy Wiggs of MCMS Hubbard Campus, volunteered their services in the distribution of coats and winter wear.  The Wrights Grove Baptist Church members, under the leadership of Pastor Henry D. Leonard, were grateful for the support from teachers, students, and staff along with donations and volunteer efforts from community members. Pictured below are Monroe County School System employees, City of Forsyth officials, county personnel, and church members.  (not pictured are Mr. Timothy Wiggs, Hubbard 6th grade, Mr. Kelvin Hughley, Monroe County Schools Technology Team, Mrs. Jessica Whatley, MCMS Counselor and Tomika Colbert, WGBC and Monroe County Sheriff's Department.)
