MP Teacher Spotlight
This week's spotlight is on Mr. Martin Magda. Mr. Magda received his B.A. in History and Political Science, and his M.Ed. in Social Studies from the University of Georgia. He has been teaching for 15 years. He was inspired to become a teacher by his mother and his AP Literature teacher. When asked about his favorite memories of his own high school days, he said "as any of my students can tell you, I have too many crazy stories from high school to choose just one." When asked what he likes most about his job his said "summer vacation! (just kidding) I get to talk about my favorite subjects every day". Besides education, he worked for a few years on political campaigns.
His hobbies include reading, watching baseball and football, and playing with his daughter and son. When asked about his favorite book, he said "I read The Lord of the Rings at least once a decade - and anything by historian Victor Davis Hanson." He has traveled all over the United States and has been to Paris and London. He would love one day to travel to Egypt and Israel. When asked about his favorite sport and sports team, he said "baseball - Atlanta Braves, college football - UGA, and pro football - Atlanta Falcons." He said that his favorite role model is his father. He said his favorite place to be is near the ocean. Three items that he has on his "bucket list" are "to see the Falcons win a Super Bowl, to see the leaping Great White Sharks of South Africa, and to see my children graduate from Harvard (at least my daughter)."
