MP Teacher Spotlight
This week's spotlight is on Mr. Dale Gonzalez. Mr. Gonzalez graduated with a B.A. from Mercer University, an M.Ed. and an Ed.S. from Fort Valley State University.   He has been a teacher for 27 years, and was encouraged to become a teacher by his high school principal, Gloria Washington, who called him 5 times over a 2 year period asking him to return to his high school as a Spanish teacher.  Besides being an educator, he is also a professional pianist, having played in several foreign countries and in Las Vegas where he has played Liberace's personal mirrored and rhinestone pianos. He is a part-time actor as well, appearing in 4 films and 2 TV shows.  When asked what he liked most about his job he said "the students hands down!"  His favorite memory from high school is winning the Golden Eagle Award for Foreign Language.

Mr. Gonzalez said that among the 60 countries that he has visited that Easter Island stands out because it is the most remote location on earth, farthest land away from the nearest continent.  He said he would love to see the Amazon and the Himalayas. His favorite book is the Bible, which he has read in full three times. His favorite sport is basketball, and his favorite teams are Gonzaga & UNLV. He really enjoys fishing, and the 3 items he has on his "bucket list" are to retire, landscape his yard, and ride in a hot air balloon.

Students will be asked to bring canned goods and drop them off either in their class sponsors' classrooms (Bazemore-12; Carter-11; Gassett-10; Estes-9) or in the class's drop box in the Media Center. This event is replacing the canned food drive the seniors usually do along with the toy drive so we can focus on toys only at that time.
