A Message from Monroe County Schools...
As a school system and a community, we are privileged every day to be protected by the men and women of the Monroe County Sheriff's Department.  This weekend, two Monroe County Sheriff's Department officers were wounded in the line of duty, one of them critically.  The Wilson and Norris families are in our thoughts.  We will have counselors and staff on standby to help our students and their families.

TGS Fifth Graders Rock the First Five Weeks of School

Mrs. Tammy Martin and Mr. Daniel Carpenter have fifth grade science and social studies classes at TGScott Elementary. Their students have had a busy start to the school year. Science experiments, as well as discussions on how to be good citizens have been a hot topic of these students. In Mrs. Martin's class, the students were given the opportunity to collaborate with one another on what it takes to be productive members of society and how citizens' rights are protected under the US Constitution. Students believe it is important to not only help out in the classroom, but to clean up within their neighborhoods, and follow rules and laws within their community. In science, students were engaged in experiments that reinforced the steps of the scientific process. Students made predictions, asked questions, and discussed cause and effect relationships to help explain why candy changed in appearance when dipped in various solutions.
