REMINDER:  First semester report cards were sent home last week.  They are due back, signed by a parent or guardian, to the student's 4th period teacher by Friday, January 17, 2014.
PBIS Rewards
Suckers for Seven:  Students who passed 7 out of 7 of their 1st semester classes were rewarded with suckers on Report Card day.

PBIS Movie Days:

We will have a movie day at the BOE Auditorium for each grade level for our 2nd Nine Weeks PBIS Rewards Day during 1st- 4th period on the dates listed below.  In order for a student to be eligible to attend, he/she must have zero tardies to class, zero tardies to school, and zero discipline referrals for the 2nd Nine Weeks of 1st Semester.      

 

Tuesday, February 4th - Freshmen

Wednesday, February 5th - Sophomores

Thursday, February 6th - Juniors

Friday, February 7th - Seniors

 

Snacks will be sold during our movie days.  Students should bring money if they wish to purchase snacks.

Athletics Pass, Big Ticket Lotto, and 180 Degree Award
  • 175 students (out of the 627) will receive an Athletics Pass that will be good for one free ticket to any athletic event and a chance to win a free athletics pass for the remainder of the year!  These students had zero tardies to school, zero tardies to class, zero referrals, and zero absences for the 2nd nine weeks.  
  • We will have the drawing for two year-long athletics passes on Friday, February 7, 2014.
  • Also, stay tuned for details regarding our Big Ticket Lotto!  Students who met the criteria mentioned above and who have also passed 7 out of 7 classes for the 1st semester are eligible to win a big ticket item. 
  • Selected students who have demonstrated a "180 degree" academic turnaround in the majority of their classes will be recognized as well.

Counselors' Corner
Credit Recovery registration has begun!  Students need to see the Graduation Coach, Mrs. McLuen, for detailed information and a registration form!  The next session of credit recovery begins Tuesday, January 21, 2014 and will run until March 14, 2014.  Students can sign up for zero period, after school, or Saturday school sessions.  A fee of $50 for each .5 credit will be assessed and must accompany student's completed registration form.  Click here to access the registration form.

9th Grade AP World History Students: It's time to begin reviewing and preparing for the AP Exam in May! Review times: Tuesdays during HS101 & Thursdays from 3:15 - 3:45 in Mrs. Ouzts' room.

Juniors:

Sports Corner
Soccer conditioning will NOT meet Wednesday, January 15th because of a brief meeting in the main campus cafeteria, followed by concussion testing for ALL freshmen & new MP soccer players.  Anyone planning to play soccer this year MUST attend this meeting.  Conditioning will still take place on the other days this week.
Basketball

The MP Varsity Lady Bulldogs Basketball Team played 2 games this weekend. We lost to Veterans girls on Friday night 34 to 38. The leading scorer was KeKe Calloway with 14 points. We won Saturday night against Pike County 67 to 57. The leading scorers were Asianna Almon with 15 points, Tyesha Davis with 17 points and KeKe Calloway with 25 points. The lady bulldogs record is 12 and 2. 

 

The MP Boys Varsity Basketball Team played two games over the weekend. Friday the boys lost to Veterans 59-42. Demarcus Davis led the scoring with 16 points. Saturday the Bulldogs defeated Pike County 72-67. Tra Taylor led the scoring with his season high of 29 points followed my Demarcus Davis with 13, and Que Perkins and Trey Weaver followed with 10 points each.  The boys record is now 9 wins with 5 losses.

 

The JV Boys and 9th Grade Boys also won their games over the weekend.
