MP Students Competed for All-State ChorusCongratulations to the following students who have passed the rigorous first round auditions for the 2014 All-State Chorus: Rebecca Clements, Kyle Culley, Lindsey Kinsella, and Josh Swiney. These students are among the top vocal musicians in the State and upon passing their second audition in January, they will perform in the prestigious All-State Chorus event in Athens.

Give 5 & Interact recently conducted a Coat Drive and collected over 100 coats. The coats were then given to the "Counselors' Closet" for students who are in need of them.

 The Beta Club recently collected Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes filled with gifts for boys and girls, ages 2 to 14 years old. These boxes will be shipped to needy children around the world. Pictured are MP Beta Club members: Walter Hoskins, Ariel Newman, and Angel Stegall.

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas. Only a hippopotamus will do.....
SkillsUSA & Mr. Hurm's Construction students created a hippopotamus parade float for Forsyth's Hometown Holidays Parade. The students combined drafting, construction, engineering and innovation to make the hippo parade through the streets. The Chamber of Commerce presented Mr. Hurm and his students with a First Place trophy for their hippo float. They also won First Place in the Bolingbroke Christmas parade.  | It's raining hippos! |

57 Bulldogs Earn Microsoft Digital Literacy Certificate. One hundred percent of the students enrolled in Mrs. Sanders' Computer Applications II classes recently earned credentials that will be an asset they can take with them to their future college and career programs.

HOSA recently competed at the state level and placed 4th in the State with their Career Pathways Display. The display team members pictured are Audrie Etheridge, Marlena Harmon, Josh Langford, Cameron Hicks, Elizabeth Pierotti, and Rima Patel. Those not pictured are Haley Hodges and Brianna Hutchinson.

HOSA recently conducted a Red Cross Blood Drive and collected 92 pints of blood. The next blood drive is planned for April.

FFA Land Judging Teams Win 1st Place at StateOur junior and our senior land judging teams placed first at the state competition. The members of our junior team are Ashley Cantrell, Michael Curtis, Cassie Rogers, and Courtney Stovall. The members of our senior team are Joshua Bleshoy, Tia Chastain, Caroline Waldrep, Jessica White, and alternate Gramm Coffman.

 2013 Mary Persons Football The 2013 edition of the Mary Persons Football team finished with a 10-2 record. The season started with a win over rival Jackson High School. The Bulldogs went on to win their first 8 games of the season. The Bulldogs rebounded from their first loss of the season to win their last regular season game and defeat Eagle's Landing High School in the first round of the play-offs. The season came to an end with a loss to Burke County in the 2nd round of the play-offs. The Bulldogs had 16 seniors who finished the last two seasons with a 20-5 record and 2 appearances in the state play-offs. The Bulldogs had 15 players selected to the 2-AAAA All Region team.

Cross CountryAnna Leigh Nix won the girls 2AAAA Region Championship for the second consecutive year and placed 5th in state recently at the state meet in Carrollton.

University of Georgia is hosting the Young Scholars Program June 2-July 11, 2014. This is a six-week intern for high school students who are interested in science, agriculture, or engineering and have completed their sophomore year in high school. Interested students will need to apply online at www.ysp.caes.uga.edu. The deadline is January 31, 2014.

GALILEO (GeorgiA LIbrary LEarning Online) is an excellent resource for student research, with over 100 databases available 24/7. Students may access it from home with the latest password. Students are encouraged to stop by the media center to get the current password.

Teen Read Week ObservedMP recently observed Teen Read Week. The theme for the week was It's Alive @Your Library. The media center sponsored a Scary Bookmark Contest. Congratulations to our winners: 1st Place - Mackenzie Melton and 2nd Place - Peyton Rogers.
