Contemplation is very far from being just one kind of thing that Christians do: it is the key to prayer, liturgy, art and ethics, the key to the essence of a renewed humanity
that is capable of seeing the world and other subjects in the world with freedom- freedom from self-oriented, acquisitive habits and the distorted understanding that comes from them.
To put it boldly, contemplation is the only ultimate answer to the unreal and insane world that our financial systems and our advertising culture and our chaotic and unexamined emotions encourage us to inhabit.
To learn contemplative practice is to learn what we need so as to live truthfully and honestly and lovingly. It is a deeply revolutionary matter.
Rowan Williams
Retired Archbishop of Canterbury

|
Most members of our Centering Prayer Community learned about Centering Prayer because a friend invited them to a workshop or a weekly group meeting. Perhaps you came to Centering Prayer this way. And it is common to hear someone share their deep appreciation for this gift. Many of us find that Centering Prayer is transforming our life.
On Saturday, August 3rd, an Introduction to Centering Prayer Workshop will be offered in Pensacola. Will you please take a few moments to think about a friend who lives in the Pensacola area who might find this Prayer enriching to their life and then forward this email to them. it might turn out to be one of the most important gifts they will ever receive

COMMITMENT
Tallahassee Facilitators Support GroupOn December 3, 2011 an Advent retreat was held at St. John's Episcopal Church for the Tallahassee centering prayer groups. It was organized by Joyce Elder to celebrate the first anniversary of the CONWF chapter. Carol Lewis, the chapter coordinator, spoke to the group about her vision of the new chapter that includes centering prayer groups from Pensacola to Tallahassee. Ruth Reynolds held a meeting in her home for the Tallahassee centering prayer group facilitators, and they were given a Contemplative Outreach facilitator handbook. The group decided that a prototype Tallahassee Facilitators Support Group would be organized for one year. Joyce asked Ruth to be the first facilitator of the support group. The 2012 quarterly meetings that followed were held on January 15, April 22, August 26, and November 18 at Faith Presbyterian Church. On January 13, 2013 the group met at St. John Neumann Renewal Center. The facilitators agreed that the pilot group had been very successful and they would like to continue to meet in this way. Nancy Bechard was chosen to be the facilitator for the 2013 meetings and gatherings. The support group has given the facilitators a venue to pray together, share about their groups, plan gatherings for the centering groups, receive information and support from the chapter, and participate in chapter events.
