A Message from OGAP

In the OGAP summer training sessions, we introduced a strategy for division called "menu division." It is an efficient method that builds on student understanding of place value and multiplication.  You can watch a video of Mary Abele Austin explaining the method through an example through the link below. 

Action Item
If your students are learning division, try introducing menu division if you have not already done so. You can also watch additional videos on menu division, drawing connections to the area model, the meaning of the remainder, and the standard division algorithm here.
