A Message from OGAP
The more information you collect as you analyze your students' work, the more information you will have for making instructional decisions. When you are examining work and then entering the evidence into the eTool, don't forget to collect information about errors and misconceptions at the bottom of the screen.  When looking at this information in the analysis screen you will be able to see trends that can indicate issues that need to be addressed across the math content areas, not just multiplication. For example, when you have a large number of students not labeling their answer with the correct unit, then you will want to make this a priority in your instruction.
You can view examples of each type of error and misconception by selecting "Switch to Example Mode" in the top right corner of the Record Student Work screen and then clicking on the specific error or misconception.
Action Item
If you have not already done so, take a few minutes to analyze student errors on the items you have given so far this year. You can do this in
Analyze Results by selecting View All Items. (You may need to filter your results so that you only have Application/Context problems or only Concept problems). What kind of student errors have you recorded? What does this suggest for your upcoming instruction?
TEACHER TIPS will be sent out periodically to help you make the most of OGAP in your classroom this year. If you have comments or suggestions about TEACHER TIPS, please let us know at [email protected].
