Mitsubishi details regional airline industry

Island Air appoints new CEO
Paul Casey, former president and CEO of Hawaiian Airlines and the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau, joined Island Air recently as its new CEO. Island Air President Les Mursahige will continue his role maintaining daily operations of the airline.

SkyWest and Embraer agree on large RJ order
Embraer recently announced its largest deal in the history of the company. SkyWest has agreed to purchase as many as 200 regional jets, worth as much as $8.3 billion if all the orders are confirmed. The initial deliveries of 40 Embraer E-175s will start in the second quarter of 2014 and end in mid-2015. SkyWest will operate the aircraft under a 12-year contract with United Airlines Inc. Future plans include SkyWest buying another 60 aircraft, depending on talks with major airlines. The St. George, UT-based carrier has options for another 100 Embraer aircraft. RAA Committees Appoints Officers RAA's Flight Training Committee recently elected Paul Kolisch of Pinnacle Airlines as Chairman. Kolisch has been with the Pinnacle (formerly Mesaba) Airlines Flight Training Department since 2001. He has represented the RAA on the FAA /Industry Stall/Stick Pusher Working Group and the Aviation Rulemaking Committee (ARC) for Stall and Stick Pusher training requirements, Al Barrios, Compass Airlines Manager of Flight Operation Training, will assume the role of Vice Chairman. With more than 20 years of experience in the regional airline industry, Barrios joined Compass in 2011 as Manager of Flight Operations Training, and previously was with Comair Airlines for 18 years. Paul Caldwell has assumed the role of Inflight Chairman of RAA's AQP Work Group. He joins Captain Scot McBride as co-chair of the work group, which was created by the Flight Training Committee in May 2010. Caldwell is the Manager - InFlight AQP at SkyWest Airlines. The RAA-sponsored work group is available to provide information and support to all airlines, not just RAA members, developing AQP training programs for pilots and flight attendants. ------------------------------ RAA UPCOMING EVENTS: ALPA and NATCA are hosting a day-long event, Users Perspective on NextGen Symposium, June 27 in Washington, DC at the Capital Hilton.
