Addressing the Pilot Supply issue

Continuing its outreach to educate industry stakeholders on pilot supply issues and the impact of new guidelines, RAA will participate in several upcoming events including a briefing to the Broward College Aviation Advisory Committee in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Traveling to Auburn, AL, RAA Senior Vice President-Operations & Safety Scott Foose will address the Aviation Accreditation Board International during its Winter Meeting. He will be joined by ExpressJet's Darrin Gruebel and American Eagle's Fred Cleveland and others as they share trends and forecasts on how the rulemaking process is affecting regional airline operations.

A deeper analysis of these issues will be the focus of several breakout sessions during the World Airline Training Conference in Orlando, April 16-17.  RAA will coordinate a series of speakers with Halldale Media to discuss the never-before-seen intersection of key pilot demand and supply factors; why this period may be different than the past; and how the industry plans to encourage Congressional leaders and the GAO to launch an objective assessment of the national and global supply.

RAA has been quoted in the following:

"Dearth of pilots raising worries" WCF Courier

RAA President Roger Cohen tells the WCF Courier that communities, even much larger than Waterloo, IA, will be in jeopardy of losing service, "and that is not only by nature of the airline business but by the potential of a pilot shortage that could hit almost at any time."
